    Very 1st grow of anything

Well guys I am going to try to post all about my 1st grow. I have never tryied to grow anything so any info along the way would help. So feel free to let me know what I am doing right, wrong, or something that might work better.

Ok so I got 2 seeds in a bag of good stuff. Never had any seeds in anything on the high end in my bags. So I found this site and got allot of info.

1st I soaked the seeds in warm tap water for about 16hours. I saw they had poped open so I took them out of the water and placed them in a warm wet paper towel in a small plate (sorry forgot to take pictures). Then the next day I was they had a small root coming out. I thn put them in peat palets. I think I should have waited alittle longer but everthing looks good.

I came home monday and both where coming up and looking ok. Today I came home and saw a small problem. The membrain from the seed was keeping them from opening. So I went and got tweesers and took it off both. Went back 10 min later and both where opening. Is this a common problem?

    Right now I am running 2 26 watt CFL's daylight 1600L each at 6500Kabout
2" from the top of seedlings. The tap root is coming out of the bottom of the peat palet. Does that mean it's time to go to a seed starting soil in a small pot or should I wait a few days still?

The pictures are form today DAY 5 (from seed)

    nice work bigworm,

exactly right with the tweezers and the seed shell. and yes its common:thumbsup:

put them in the pots NOW...dont mean to yell, but seriously pot them now. the tap root may not form correctly when not allowed to grow down 5"+. if you use seed starter you must transplant in about a week or so due to the massive root growth they will have (from experience). also get perilite at grow depot and mix in 30% of it versus youre soil. this is for drainage and its very important for the roots to get oxygen between feedings.

    good luck

    edit:lol...double post and BTW:
The tap root is coming out of the bottom of the peat palet.
    hmmmmmm.....WT u see that lol

Ok going to do that right now. Plan 2 the tap root is already going sideways. I cut the mesh off to cuz I read that it can hamper the growth of the roots. The starter soil has perlite in it do I need to add more? Also show I keep the soil real loose or pack it down some then water?

check soil by eye, if there isnt more than 20% you need more. if you dont have it now, it should be ok as youll have to transplant before too long(roots).

LOOSE. fill the cup up to where the bottom of the root area would be to make the top of the root area just below the rim...follow?. then fill in around the plants with more soil, again loosely. and water with about a small dixie cup's amount of water around around the seedling after planting.

Thanks for the help bro going to do that right now. Oh should I go ahead and put all 4 26 watt light on now. I have more but going to get another set up tomorrow. That way I have 3 26watt 1600l 6500k bulbs and 1 1600l 5000k full spectrum CFL's on each plant. I was thinking they need that much light yet but not sure.

I took the pictures before work. I think I might have alittle problem. I went out of town friday night and came back sunday afternoon. I watered the night before I left. When I came back I saw that it was dry. Plants looked good just alittle curling up on the sides. I watered them and they are still growing just still have the curling up of the 1st few leafs. Looks to be alittle more then at 1st. I think one problem is I mixed my tap water to 6.0. Is that right for water for soil? I read some where that it should be 6.8-7.0 for soil. I have yet to add any nutes or anything but water. Anyone got any info on this that might help.

Other then that I just added2 more cfl's. That makes 3-26W @ 6500K lights and and 1-26W full spectrum 5000K light. Is that good for now?

Do you know why the bottoms leafs are starting to turn up? Is that even an issue?
