Growing from a clone

i'm a first time grower, and i was reading the guides and i had a question. i'm growing from clones, so what stage is that in the plant life cycle? i wanted to know so i could set the right light schedule and get the right soil.

Plain ol' vegetative stage. Fertilize very lightly at first, though, until it is clear that the clone has doubled in size from when it was cut and is well-rooted.

i keep reading contridacting grow faq's, or maybe i'm just confused.

would i then schedule 18 hours of light with a mh, or 24 hours of light with a flurecent bulb when starting with a clone?

MH and flourescent give off similar light, just in different quantity for the amount of electricity used. They are not bound to light cycle.

You can veg under either 18/6 or 24/0. It's personal preference.
