Hey all, I just have a couple questions about outdoor growing. First, has anyone been successful in outdoor growing in the northeast of the United States? (if so I'd like to ask a couple questions) Second, are there any alternatives to warding off animals such as rabbits, groundhogs etc. (but also a lot of deer) from the crop other than a fence (I live near the woods and want to try to avoid using fences to avoid attracting attention as I will have multiple grow spots, and also to reduce cost because I would need a lot of fencing) I have heard several methods for deer, but what about smaller animals, but equally as devastating to the crop. If not, what is the most effective type of fencing to use (where can it be bought, cost? etc)? Any other tips that you could offer would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

You can urinate and scatter human hair all around the growing area also. These are just a few methods that I have heard.

many outdoor grows have been eaten by different animals so best advice is to spread out more patches so if u lose some in 1 ,others will make up for the loss.

hey, good luck tlisk with your grow and keep us posted. i hope to post some pics of my own also....but....looking out the window today....yup...looks like Antartica out there...looks like spring is far away, but its not, really. btw, i'm growing some plants out in the woods nearby and may construct small chicken wire type fences around them at first, till they get good and established, then remove fences and hope the deer don't get them. and like Bspectral says, i'm spreading my crop around to insure success.....g' luck mate :)

There is no fullproof way of dealing with nuisance animals it seems....
I've been on other forums and that seems to be the official conclusion... more or less.

A couple of tricks i read about on these forums:

peeing around your plot
fencing and such
spreading hairdog all over (easily obtainable)
coyote urine
a fishing wire set at deer nose level all aroud your plot (the idea is that the deer will touch the wire with its nose and not seeing what it is it will be frighten and run away)
using human hairs
going to your plants at least once a week to spread human sent
instaling some traps (aimed at scaring the animal,not hurt it)
spreading moth balls

those are just some i remember off the top,i know there is plenty more...

Best way IMO is to be there as often as possible,they are affraid of humans.
