I had been a happy smoker for about a year until 4/20/08 when I was caught with weed in my car by a local policeman. He went easy on me and just called my parents... but now they test me.
If you smoke weed, appreciate it. Freedom is a great thing. I'm 18 and it's the summer, and I can't smoke weed. Do you know how pissed off and sad that makes me feel? I found it hasn't ruined my summer entirely, but thinking about it is depressing.
I guess I'm just whining here, but I wish there was something I could do. I would use body-cleansing methods to pass their tests, but none of them are really proven to work. I've already tested positive once, which resulted in over a week of my parents putting me under house arrest, so I can't risk it again.
Weed is so harmless! Why can't society offically recognize this fact and admit that alcohol is just as bad or worse!!? Any thoughts on any of this?

You're 18.... move out. Unfortunatley the stigma that Marijuana has is unlikely to change with the older generations as it's been drilled into their head that cannabis is bad.
Hopefully with our generation we will see alot more reforms dealing with Marijuana and hopefully a lot more understanding throughout the nation.
All I can tell you is that you're 18, move out. You're a legal adult now and can do as you please. Your parents don't own you as much as they might to think they do (as evidenced by testing you).
Good luck :hippy:

See but I'm going to college in the fall and my parents are helping pay for it. Moving out would be really expensive and would only last two months until September.
I can't wait until I live alone in an apartment though so I can just light up a joint on a couch.

obviously you haven't done anything to change their minds, cause if you have its very very easy with all the information out there to change ANYONES mind with the right approach, and don't just walk up to them and be like, YOUR MORONS !!!!, show them how mature you are and ask them if you can sit down with them for a hour to go over a issue that you are dealing with. Having facts right in front of you to prove their old ways and ideas are wrong....
I did this with my parents years ago and its a lot easier than you think... my mother was raised HARDCORE Christian, and my dad is a HARDCORE conservative that listens and agrees to every word bill'o'riley says... so IF i could, its quite possible you can..

they test you? hm.... I think you have options.
Not smoke the herb
Cheat the test
Talk the folks into letting you smoke herb
Any of these options involve heavy dialog <sigh....>
Not very good for options, man.

Very true.
The question is simple : how much are you prepared to stand up for your beliefs and pay the price ?
I made my choices and have always been honest about what I am (a sociopathic hairy arsed ,pot smoking biker) and most folks have accepted it , those that haven't don't matter. :D

"Obviously" I have done things to try to change their mind. The first week it happened that was all I was talking about, and both my parents are flaming liberals, too. I kept quoting internet evidence including no long term effects, its non-addictiveness, and they won't have it. They're more focusing on the idea that it's illegal and that legal troubles could prevent me from going to college... there's no way to argue with that. Its true.
They also say that having weed can slow emotional development because when you're bored, you can just turn to weed... therefore you're not learning how to deal with boredom (and any other problems that everyone goes through) because the problem is immediately eliminated by weed.
There's truth to that. However, I was only a weekly smoker, so I didn't rely on weed for fun.
Secondly, I'm 18 anyway, so they should give me the choice of how to use my time. I think the only valid point they have is the legal issues. I'm seriously considering just saying "fuck you guys" and choosing to smoke. The only problem that might create is that my car is in my dad's name, so they could take it away from me.

I don't think you understood what I said... SITTING DOWN with parents and TALKING to them, and having shit printed off, being ready to counter anything they say, even the argument for it being illegal.. theres arguments for both sides every time... just throwing out stuff like you said in arguments isn't the way to do it.... but what do I know... I wasn't in the same situation just years ago.

My aunt got drug tested at her work and is now randomly tested more often. Now that she cant smoke, she has turned to alcohol instead.
thats shitty.

Hah my parents were super liberal too, yet still would not listen to a word I said about weed.
It seems daunting since you have lived with your parents your whole life. Just move out, its easy, all you need is a job doing around twentyfive hours to thirty a week and find a apartment with flatmates. Once youve done it you wont ever want to go back to living with your parents again.
I can guarentee that your parents arnt going to revoke their financial assitance for college. They want you there bad, their threats otherwise are just bluffs

Refuse the tests...
Just don't take them...
Flip it on them tell them you are not a junkie and there is no reason for drug screenings.
There is no reason because there is just WEED in you System "Things could be a lot worse Mom and Dad"
Get it?
Then if they push the issue still just blow it off and don't take the tests or just piss dirty and come and go as you please. Your parents are not going to put you out on the streets So Puff Puff Puff Fuck it!!!! They will get used to it....
Your going to college it is not a distraction. Do not try to convince them that you are smarter from Weed. Tell them its your way to unwinde and maybe they will understand someday....
Or just respect your parents suck it up and realize you have the rest of your life ahead of you... Take the summer off and smoke double the first few months back @ school....
I would just BLAZE it up:thumbsup:
Good Luck GL420:jointsmile::jointsmile::jointsmile:

So are they just piss testing you with one of those pharmacy style kits or whatever? If so, I can't imagine they stand there and watch you like you're in jail or something. Save up a nice handle of clean piss and you'll be straight. Could save up just two or three days worth and you'd have more than enough before school.
Stay high.

My dad does stand there and watch me like I'm in jail. Otherwise I would have tried putting a drop of visine into it because I heard it works also.
::sigh::
I wonder when the next time I'll be able to smoke in peace will be. College will present opportunities that I'm assuming will have at least some level of paranoia. Then after I graduate and am living on my own, the job I get might test for that. People say 'don't worry, you have your whole life ahead of you to smoke pot.' But I don't know if that's true!

dude are you serious? college is like prime opportunity to smoke! Are you staying in a dorm? It's pretty easy to smoke and not get caught there, especially if your roommate is cool.
You should probably just quit worrying about it like it's the end of the world. Its no big deal if you can't smoke right now, just wait a couple months until you go off to college then you'll have plenty of opportunities to smoke. Just be careful and don't let it affect your grades.
I'm sure you probably think about smoking all the time, thats probably a big part of your problem. You just need to keep yourself occupied with other things so you don't think about smoking. Thats what i've been doing lately since i haven't been able to smoke. It's been about 2 weeks now and I really haven't had any urges or anything, its just will power really. I use to smoke like 24/7 for 9 months plus i had been smoking for about 7 years so i know how it feels when you have to quit something you love haha.
