so I started with 6 plants, 4 got dug up by animals, 1 got eaten by an animal, and 1 is barely surviving. I already have more seeds germinating so do you think when I plant the second time I should use cage to cover them, it seems like a commom sense reaction but I don't, any other help welcome thanks

Well certainly if 100% of your plants were destroyed, I would invest in some chicken wire this time around! :P
