Who else listens to a good amount of it?

Well this year Ive fallen in love with it. Especially with the Definitive Jux label. Aesop Rock, Cage, Mr. Lif, El-P, Cool Calm Pete etc. are amazing.
The lyrics are so powerful. Alot of the stuff that they talk about easily relates to so much about you and me.
Its a style of poetry to a beat and its like a breath of fresh air from life for me. I can just zone out so easy.

Its so sad the most amazing music is never heard and is always drowned out by this mainstream Popcorn Rap.

If you are into heavy poetry, I urge you to look into this kind of music. Its completely different then the trash on the radio

Minneapolis is like an unspoken Mecca of underground hip-hop. Home to two great underground hip-hop labels. Rhymesayers (Atmosphere, Dynospectrum, Felt, Brother Ali, Soul Position, Eyedea and Abilities, P.O.S., Musab, and MF DOOM and more) all of those artists are really skilled.... My favs of that label being Atmosphere (of course), Soul Position (Blueprint and RJD2), P.O.S. and MF DOOM (gotta love doom)

P.O.S. is also a co-founder of another great label and rap crew by the name of Doomtree (P.O.S., Cecil Otter, Sims, Mike Mictlan, Paper Tiger, Dessa, Laserbeak, Marshall Larada, and Turbo Nemesis) ... They do work as a collective crew as well as thier own individual solo work.. all of wich is really fuckin solid. I highly reccomend checking out thier False Hopes cd that showcases work by all of the artists.

Def Jux is also a great label. Aesop Rock, Mr. Lif, El-P, Sage Francis, Del all good shit.

also Atmosphere's new album "When Life Hands You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold" ... comes out tomorrow (4/22) go get that shit!

Yep Atmosphere is hot. Im really diggin that song "Guarentee".
Somethin about it makes it so nice. Very relaxing

Right now Im really diggin Despot. He's such a nerdy looking guy its awesome and he's full of fire
I didnt realise there were so many whites in the game. Thats on great thing about HipHop. Its so diverse and anyone with skill can be apart of it

Im disappointed that I just now started getting heavily into it. Ive missed so much. I guess apart of it is cause we have so many shitty bling bling rappers down here

Underground Hip Hop is where its at... such good music, not the stupid candy rap bling bling bullshit. Actually has meaning. I hate how people listen to that garbage on the radio, who cares if you got 50 million dollar rims, and "bitches" and kristol.

Tonedeff, Cunninlynguist has amazing beats and lyrics, so soulful, aswell One Be Lo amazing lyricists, new album is amazing, Brother Ali again good, they're all amazing, Tech N9ne, Potluck, Jedi Mind Tricks, Army of the Pharaohs, Mr. Lif, Immortal Technique, Andre Nickatina, Canibus, Chino Xl, list goes on and on anyway peace.

I really like underground rap. Usually it's gangsta rap, but mostly it's stuff that doesn't get played on the radio.

One thing I really like about rap is the scope of it. I really like how you can find an area, and listen to the rap from that area. You can really delve deep into it and find great music that's so particular to that area. Going that underground, you have to dig deep, but you'll be amazed what you find. If you ever think you've found everything there is to find in an area, dig deeper, and you'll keep finding things.

SF Bay Area is my favorite scene, but it's not my only...

Listening to "Ball of Flesh" by Saafir right now.

To reiterate what Ghosty said, coming from Minneapolis also myself, I think it's safe to say that the mpls underground hip-hop scene is booming. I went to a little hip-hop show called Soundset in mpls in may of this year. It was cool to be able to see underground hip-hop get recognized a bit, because we all know that the game is a joke these days and all this mainstream shit is a joke.

Gotta love some MF Doom. My favorite album was Madvillainy, the one he did with MadLib. The Mouse & The Mask was hot too, Danger Mouse produced it. All his solo album are dope, & they've had rumors for years that him & Ghostface were supposed to drop an album together. Check out my boy McFly aka Dirty Jew on MySpace if you get a chance...
