i am getting either 2 2'x4' trays or 2 (3' by 3') trays to put in my grow area with is about 5x5 as i said in my last thread but anyhoo i want to grow my plants sideways towards a 400W HPS/MH cool tube setup which is going to placed off to the side about 6" away from the plant tops so the light will hit the plants from the top right. And i was wondering is this sufficent light? And if not can i use floros on the sides of the plant so the plants wont stretch to much for light, the whole floro w/ HPS is a gray area for me. I am also going to put up mylar for extra reflectivity. o and should i train them while they are little or do i have to what till there stems are stronger???:(

o almost forgot, i am looking into the SOG method and was wondering how big is harvest for 1 plant grown with SOG compared to the harvest if that same plant was grown normally?? because i am reading that with SOG you only get the one top bud per plant

In a 5x5 area you will want a HPS1000 to light it properly.
SOG relies on high NUMBERS of smaller plants to attain a similar yield to lower numbers of larger plants. The advantage of SOG is less time spent 'putting on timber'- each plant that comes down is mostly bud, not stems and leaves, whcih means efficient use of nutrients, light, and carbon.

by high #s you mean 50+ so it would be impractical to do that with anything under??
I think i will settle with a $250 600W system, inexpensive/doesnt run up electric bill

And one more thing(sry 4 all these questions) i decided to do an E&F (tray dimensions above) what GPH rating would be enough to pump water in and then out of the tray in 15min??the trays are 4" to 6" deep
