View Full Version : Human Urine To Detour Vermins?

In Louisiana, we have alot of deer, raccoons, squirrels, armadillos, opossums, etc. that could wreak havoc on one's outdoor plantation.

So I was wondering how I could keep them away from my plants. It occurred to me, hunters use deer urine to attract deer, right? So if I peed around the area of my bushes (not anywhere near them, just around the area), it should DETRACT them, logically, since deer are petrified of humans.

Am I being ridiculous or is this a real solution? And if not, then what could I use to prevent pests & bugs from eating my grow?

I think it would work for a while. After a while though critters tend to get use to the smell and will come anyway. During the summer if you planted corn a ways away from your grow they might go for that instead.

back in the day when i did grow, i used to have problems with deer all the time. pissing on my plants helped tremendously, but I'd still lose a few due to "vermin". probably because i had my plants spread really far apart, and well, i just didn't have that much piss.

When I went hiking into Black Bear territory we peed all around our camp before sleep to keep the bears away.

It's up to you, but if you only have plans for a half-dozen plants or so, I'd use a chicken wire cage around each one.

IDK if this would work for you but, my grandfather would always have a garden of edibles, and they would always be eaten by pests, so one day he went to the barber shop and collected the hair, he put it in a perferated bag and hung it up.

supposedly the smell of humans would scare off the animals. you can also ge those puppy pads and pee on them, and put them all around your plants then stake them to the ground. (they will reak and probably never move)

I've applied - um- 'stinky spray' to my share of outdoor cannabis plants... lol! Yes, it helps keep herbivorous pests away. Predator urine, be it human or coyote, is good for that. I wonder if a strict vegan were to apply his own mello yello to his plants, if it would work so well?

I strongly believe that animals keen noses can detect something in the urine that tells the sniffer that the urine in question is from a carniviore. Possibly the protein traces.....IDK. I have watched the reaction of animals to different types of urine, in hunting situations . From my VERY limited experience, individual animals react diferently. Some go on alert, some don't. But none that I have ever seen actually run away as if they were truly spooked by it.

I think the use of human urine as a deterrant may work, but I'd NEVER bet a crop on it, myself. Use C-4 on tripwires for sure-fire deterrants:thumbsup:

Take a pump sprayer to your site, mixed with red pepper,water... Spray the plants and the foliage around your grow.. The deer will not touch them.. The rabbits won't either!!! It's tried and true!

I tried everything to keep my local deer outta my tomato plants (urine, soap flakes, etc) ... nothing worked, these 'town-raised' deer are so used to people, nuthin scares them, even when I pop 'em in the ass with my pellet gun ... good luck :(

Since pepper will not disolve in water you should use the cayenne pepper.Fresh pepper,I've never tried. What kind of peper juice are you going to use?
Just keep it shaken up while you spray it on them. It might be best to use a spray bottle.

I used to drink kava alot, like everynight and we had this designated pee zone,so we dont have all these pee spots all over our yard,While we drink outside, the back of the shed is where we would pee......after a few weeks I noticed a plant growing in the spot where we pee.after it grew a bit,I noticed it was a kava plant.
Wondered if the same happedned with weed......if you ate alot of weed and kept peeing in the same spot if a plant would grow.

You should try growing and not tell a soul! You'll be fine! You would have enough smoke to carry you through until your next grow is done.... It's really all about how you carry yourself!Mums the word!

Well,it seems complicated, the only spot in my yard where I think I could grow is in the Tree in my front yard.
just worried if the cops come flying over my yard and spot it in the tree......I have a medical MJ card that allows me to grow on my property at this address, but Im also fearful my neighbors will harvest it in the night.
I see a police helicopter almost every week flying through our neighborhood, how easy do you think they could spot some plants growing in a big bushy avocado tree?

GaGrown

Indoors, would work for ya! I would exercise my rights as to owning a MM card. That is why you have it! To protect and heal yourself. That chopper ain't gonna know a thing. You can shoot the neighbor if they come in your house, but not if they come in your yard. The avacado tree is a bad idea. They'll see you climbing the tree everyday. What are you gonna tell them when they ask you,"Why you climb that tree everyday?" Just say your practicing to be a lookout on a deserted island.Or..... Tell them Gilligan is your HERO! Playin' round with ya Fingahzzzzz!!!! Happy Easter!:thumbsup:If you were to put clones outdoors,in late July.. They would stay small enough not to be detected by the chopper or your neighbor. They would start to flower, end of August and no later than first part of September.

LOL@your answers for climbing the tree.
I dont know much about growing MJ,I remember inhigh school growing Weed in our little jungle of keawe forest,lol...but they never got bigger than 2 inches, they kept dying.
I think I will start cruising the grow forums,I just dont know how I am gonna grow indoors,I dont have much space.

they only got 2 inches because a "forest" isnt the best place for a plant to grow because its light is blocked by trees and the ground is not the best type of soil. If you found an somewhat open part of the woods or a field and mixed some cheap organic soil in before putting the plants in the ground they will become monsters

Stinky, are you insinuating that you collected your urine in a spray bottle and sprayed your plants?

Stinky, are you insinuating that you collected your urine in a spray bottle and sprayed your plants? That would be way too complicated. The situation was that my friend the outdoor guy 'ran out' on a plant checkup/ chanterelle gathering hike and no amount of canned adult beverages was gonna fix that. So since chix are known for our camel-like ability to hold it... lol... my 'reserves' were called up. So to speak.

Try rotten egg spray it works really good. Break up and lightly beat 3 eggs and mix with one liter water in a spray bottle. Spray the plants. The egg spray will leave a sticky film that will quickly become rancid smelling in the sun. The smell will deter deer and other animals from eating your plants. It will last through a light rain but its best to re-spray after a hard rain. Since most damage happens when the plants are small you can spray them when you plant them and then just try to keep spraying after heavy rains for the first month or so. Works on all types of plants and flowers. Some also mix red pepper like tabasco into it. :rastasmoke:

Seamen also works fine but first you have to mix it with water so it can get thin and apply it.

the theory of human hair is true but you dont have to put it in a bag just spread some around 25 ft of the plants and the deer will wither away i had the same problem....or you can put bailing wire 18 in and 3 in frm the ground around your ladies.....
Happy Farming.
