I got one of those little microscopes from radio shack for checking my tricromes. The thing sucks and its super hard to see them while on the plant.
I think I found the perfect replacement . For $35!!!
Projects onto your TV
Is 200X too much magnification ?
What do you think? Is this a decent replacement?
I just stumbled on this

i got one for my nephew for christmas and tried it out. it makes viewing trichs so much easier, and im sure you can take snapshots if you hook it up to a PC with TV card or some other way. i plan on using it later when i need to check trichome color.

ill see if i can borrow it tommorrow and take some pics if possible(im sure ill find a way).

stay irie.

With the Radio Shack scope, cutting a piece of leaf, and studying it on a flat surface works pretty good, but nice find.
I could see it being quite useful for those of us growers that are semi blind. (me included)
Too bad it doesn't have a memory stick, tho. Wife would freak if she saw me taking our tv outside to the growroom.

I tried that meathod after realizing it is almost impossible to see trichs while still on the plant, only had marginal results with the small leaves. I think I shake to much.

It may be possible to hook an old VCR up to it without connecting to a TV. You would just have to get everything set right while it was still connected to a TV, then when you are ready just move it to your space and hook the eyeclopse to the video input. This should work
