i heard that if you mix 1 birth control pill in a gallon of water for watering it makes the marijuana plant mature faster

believe it or not it has been proven on tomato weed plants and many have claimed it works on marijuana

is this true or is it just a stupid idea
please express your knowledge of this matter

I'm not sure what the results would be, because I've never tried it. But, I'm not sure if I'd want to be smoking something that was treated with hormones. If I were willing to, I think I'd be more interested in treating with some sort of steroids. :D

No thanks! I like my food and my ganja 100% organic. :)

How many times does this come up...

Assuming that the plant's roots can even uptake the active component of birth control pills...

Assuming that the plant has metabolic processes that are compatible with this substance...

Assuming that you really want to expose yourself to an unknown dose of hormones...

Please just stick to PLANT ferts?

I wouldn't swallow contraceptive pills myself, so I'm hardly likely to feed them to my plants :hippy:

What is the fascination with putting bizarre shit on cannabis to make it grow faster?

Doesn't it grow fast enough already?

Apparently not.
What I find the most entertaining about all the threads about using birth control pills, urine, menstrual blood, food coloring, etc. is that most of the people trying to do these things are the ones who don't have the most BASIC aspects of growing figured out yet, and would not benefit at all even if they DID work. It's like the concept of adding CO2 to a room that has insufficient light, all the while feeding with Sam's Choice (walmart store brand) tomato food...

Wow. I'm interested in seeing how it turns out. Kudos to you for being daring/experimental I guess!

I'm no scientist, but I don't imagine that estrogen will have anything to do with determining the gender of the plant. Estrogen, after all, is not a plant hormone.

You shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet

AAARGH.
No it will not have any effect on M/F ratios.
You can encourage higher % of females with proper lighting, soil conditions, and temps, but the difference will be so small that you'd need a very large sample size for the numbers to even be statistically significant.
If estrogen worked, don't you think there would already be a product on the market? There ARE female encouraging products such as SensaSoak, which is a small bottle of horseshit sold for $25 US. It works... to encourage hermaphrodites. Quite well, actually.
You want females, make feminized seeds.

EDIT: And if I were your girlfriend/sister/whoever you're pinching pills off of, if I found out, you would live to rue the day you ever came up with this harebrained scheme. Of course, if she's on a pill that has a rest period, ask her to give you a couple of the 'place holder' sugar pills you take when you're actually having your period. They'll actually be GOOD for your plant. Plants like sugar. But the sugar by the coffee maker will work just as well.

Oooh... just had a peek, since I was curious who'd be willing to risk the wrath of a female housemate to take her pills...

Just as I suspected. You're 15 years old. Stay in school, kiddo.

LOL Stinky I was wanting to see what you thought on this as I once knew someone who tried it when they heard it as some fantastic way to get female plants many moons ago. No idea what effect it had on the plants or him or his brothers as they ripped the beanlings up to smoke when they ran out of stash & I moved a couple of weeks after. Would have been quite funny if it had the same effect as athletes taking female hormones.
