250w HPS Distance

How far should my 250w HPS light be from the top of the plant without burning or damaging it? any help would be appreciated

Hello,

madfreek - The distance of any light can be determined by the following method.

Place your hand two feet under the light and start working your way closer to the bulb. You will get to a point where the temp will go from comfortable on your hand to hot.

Keep your hand in the comfortable area (as close to the light as your hand can be while still feeling comfortable, not hot) under the light for one minute as long as your hand still feels slightly warm and not hot then that is the distance you have to keep.

This distance can be shortened with the addition of fans blowing on the bulbs or air cooled reflectors, etc.
