I wouldn't say "Crazy High", but it means its good quality herb. Pics?

yeah, pics would really help. re4d hairs is just one of the factors that determines the quality... having said that, i have smoked weed that looked amazing, but either tasted terrble or didn't get me as high as high as it should've (considering what it looked like). so even with pics, it's hard to tell sometimes... nearly impossible without pics ;)

alot of old timers used to harvest when the majority of the "hairs" would turn red. these are actually the pistols of the female flower. ive had bud with lots of red hairs but not all that good, got you higher lookin at it than smokin it. the magic ingredient is the "crystals" on the buds. the really good pot looks like its coated with tiny diamonds. not sayin that red hairs dnt mean anythig sometimes its the bomb. but its all in the strain

Oh no that is bad. :lol5:
Red hair is good to see but does NOT necessarily imply good quality.

Red hairs don't necessarily mean it's good. I have smoked weed that looked SO good, red hairs all in it...and it was shit weed. I had to smoke like 4 bowls to get a buzz..those red hairs are the pistols from the female flowers (buds) and nothing much else, I have seen white and brown ones as well.

The orange hairs (pistols) that you are talking about are used in mating process of the cannabis flower. They are used by the female to collect the pollen of the male that is floating in the air to pollonate the flower and make the seeds. Sometimes it can help to determine the quality but ultimately you can not use them for your final judgement. The only true way to know is by smoking it. Hopefully this was helpful.

This brings up a question of mine. How about the hairs themselves, do they contain THC? If so, how much? Anybody have any info whatsoever on this? Thanks in advance. :) * SUPER FUCKING STONED RIGHT NOW*:rasta::stoned::rastasmoke::smokin:

actually having red hairs has nothing at all to do with the quality if anything the best bud i ever had did not have one red hair on it it was lime green with a shit load of crystals.
The male plant produces pollen sacks which, when ripe, burst
and scatter pollen to the female plants. The female plant produces
white hairs at the internodes and top cola (head) of the plant during
flowering. These hairs (pistils) begin to curl slightly and grow longer
and thicker. The top cola should carry the most pistils. These pistils
are sticky too touch (do not touch them too much! they also contain
your much wanted THC) and begin to cover in resin over the flowering
period. The reason for the stickiness is that it is used by the female to
catch falling pollen. If the female plant is not pollinated she will try to
grow more sticky areas. Hence the results of a sinsemilla
crop........Bigger and Better Buds!
...
During the peak period of flowering the female pistils on the
flowerâ??s tips will swell up. When the swelling takes place the pistils
will begin to change in color. They will generally change from a white
to an orange tint to a red tint to a brown tint. All strains are different
but in general it is a white to red or a white to brown color change (It
is best to use the breederâ??s recommended flowering times for harvest
guidelines though). When she does this you are ready to harvest her
and sample your favorite herb.
By the way, TCGB has lots of typos.

Red hairs are generally a good thing but I've had bud with a bunch of red hairs that didnt even get me very high.
You should try to keep your hair out of your weed, for sanitary reasons.

on levels of importance .... crystals > hairs PERIOD!
thats in my short experience so... HOLLA!
Why are people completely fucking THICK? If you dont know what your talking about, DONT FUCKING TALK.
The hairs [pistils] mean NOTHING. The pistils have NOTHING TO DO WITH POTENCY, OR MATURITY OF BUD.
Even the crystalls arnt a good indicator of potency, coz if theres nothing in them, you've got nothing.

I thought that the redening of the pistils just meant it is in the process of ripening?
I thought that the redening of the pistils just meant it is in the process of ripening?
Nope. Not at all. It's the colour of the trichomes that gives an indication to maturity. Nothing else!

Red hairs are good, but orange hairs are poison. For safety sake, please send all your orange hair bud to me for safe disposal.

They did indeed. I cant stand it when people spout on and on about something, when they've clearly got no clue about anything. Mis-information is a waste of forum space. Thats why i get narked about it.

i know i hardcore roflmao'd. anyways man red hairs dont mean a thing. they are from when a female plant flowers and the correct me on this but tryaclomes turn amber then red. now unless the plant didnt flower then if guess thats the only reason you wouldnt see any unless is was a special bred strain then i would think it would be pretty good.
