So I COMPLETELY underestimated how insane plant growth becomes when you put a plant on to a 12/12 cycle. Due to my gross underestimation my plants branches (it was LST'd) are now just about to start brushing up against the bulbs (CFLS). Im not too worried abou the bulbs burning the plants as the ventilation system i have in the area is complete overkill and keeps the bulbs at tempuratures in the area of mid 70's F. I cant really train the branches down much more, maaaay be able to squeeze an inch or two more out of some creative tie downs. So at this point Im really unsure of what to do, and any suggestions would be welcomed.

the 12/12 growth spurt usually last between 2 and 3 weeks strain dependant

get creative with lst wat growing is all about. take every inch u can get out of her

as rule of thumb ur plants will at least double in size when u go 12/12

so veg to 1 ft will stretch a min of 2ft and max of 3.5 ft strain dependant

hope this helps

Yea i had already kinda figured the growth spurt part out =p.

Suppose ill just try to lst her down a bit more, not really sure how ill achieve that but ill try. I think if nessecery i can create a kinda spacer between the two parts of the grow box to make it temporarily taller.

LST creatively, Then you may have to axe a node or two. I had to axe 1 or 2 nodes, it was for the better. Some nodes just refuse to be held down.

ROFL - I've got a similar situation going on now, so I know what you mean.

You really shouldn't let your plant touch the lights. They'll burn if they touch them. ...maybe not right away, if you have good vents like you said, but they will burn eventually.

Aye PC i figured it would have some kinda negative reprecussion eventually, just not worried about burn occuring over night.

Seriously though...this thing has probably grown a total of atleast 8 feet or so over the last weeks (when adding up the growth on all the nodes), after the first 4 days of flower w hen i saw the plant i almost shat myself.

Hah, ill put some pics of it up sometime tomorrow, thats when im due to pull it back out of the box and give it its normal 3 day inspection.

I cant raise the lights or drop the plant anymore as its in a rubber made box, ive got the plant sitting on nothing but its drainage tray, and the lights are bolted to the side of the box it grows in.

I do think i've come up with a solution however. Since the grow box comes apart at the middle (two rubber maid boxes that sit on top of each other) Im going to take a few pieces of 2x4 and build a few supports then wrap some cardboard or something else around the joints to make a light tight sleeve that will add about another half foot of height on the box.

yeah, cuz if its touching now, itll be another 5-6 inches easy by end of grow

Well klondike you indirectly inspired in a whole other method of fixing the problem. I when taking the picture sof the plant next to the box i noticed that the drip pan (another bucket) act actually holding the actual growing bucket up about 2 inches higher then it hand to be so i just hacked the crap outta the drip bucket and that bought me another inch or two. Here are the pictures I promised you.

She's startin to form her flowers too ^^ tried to snap off a few good pictures of that but I wasn't able to. Suppose I'll have to wait a week or so till they get a bit bigger.

looking good. you WILL have to permentantly find a way to give it another foot or more up upwards room however

it suggest trying to progressivly lst it by 10-20 degrees a day to get a few more overhead inches

If that drip bucket doesn't have air holes in it, you could be inadvertently making your root zone too wet with not enough oxygen. I'd lose the drip BUCKET in favor of a pie plate or something. You want air to replace moisture as it is used up.

The drip bucket has lots and lots of holes in it. Along with the fact that I keep the grow bucket slightly elevated out of the drip bucket by placing it on risers. I dont even really know if you could consider it a bucket anymore after all the cutting I did on it today...its more like a pan shaped exactly like the bottom of the growing bucket.

I appreciate your concern though stinky ^^.

edit: LSTing it in any direction isnt really an option. That beast takes up most of the grow box in all dimensions.
