I have been fortunate enough to get some nice feedback on some of my posts and I really appreciate it!

What, if anything is the best way to let people know that their comments are appreciated? Should I rep them back, or just take the nice comment in stride and keep on truckin'?

Thanks in advance for the education! :hippy:

Take the compliment for what it is. Rep people based on the content of their posts- that's what it's meant for. You don't have to 'thank' someone for repping you, just smile and appreciate the ups.

Take it in stride and when you see something worth giving rep.......pass on the good karma.

Have a good one!

Thats what I suspected, just wanted to make sure I was not disrespecting those that have shown kindness.

Thanks for the education .. I feel smarter and smarter by the moment .. or it could just be gas :)

That's always something I wondered as well. Nice you brought it up, because I rarely rep people at all, only if a post is mind-blowing.

I solemnly swear to only use my rep power for good .. never for evil .. unless I get something out of it of course ;)

I'm a rep whore. I rep constantly, especially if something's funny.

First and foremost I give rep points for well written, thought provoking posts. I also give them for starting killer threads, and posts that give me giggle-fits.

I like to give them when I think someone is being especially cool and I try and always write a good one for them..showin the love

I usually return rep when given to me. Perhaps not immediately but I do. I just wait until I see them make a good point and then I return it. That is just me. Rep really does not mean anything here anyway.

What goes around, comes around.

I rep for thoughtful, well-written posts, good advice, brilliant one-liners, and thought-provoking or unusually fun threads.
I neg-rep for really disrespectful stuff that isn't worth an infraction, like asking how to steal electricity, growing in mommy's attic without telling her, and telling your sister she's ugly... you know who you are!

I see it as a way to spread good karma ;)

When can you start giving rep points?

Run your mouse over the scales in the right hand corner of a post of the person you want to give rep points to. If it says "add to fill in the name's reputation, click on it and you should get the pop-up.

Hope that helps.

Good luck!
