View Full Version : Flood Lights
What kind of growth can i expect from two 100w flood lights placed 10 inches away from a seedling? Plus alluminum reflectors on two sides of the plant.

Hello,
I am not sure if all flood lights are created equal or not, but the ones that I have are halogens.
Halogens produce way to much heat for growing, they have poor light penetration, and produce very little "usable" light as far as the plants are concerned.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, it really isn't worth the effort using them. Invest in some compact fluorescents. They screw right into normal light sockets.

If your talking about the HPS flood lights, like from here http://www.e-conolight.com/Product/EFamily.asp then You can grow 2 of them I would think. The problem about the small HPS lights is that they dont put out enough lumens, so thats why you cant grow as many as you would in a 400W setup. Im buying two 150W floods from there and growing about 4 plants with them, but I have a small area too.

Most economical floodlights are not hps.
