Dugout Question

Hey quick question, I am fairly new to smoking and I bought a dugout for a convenient way of smoking and storing my shit. One thing though, when smoking it now (I have shchwag) it tists damn right nasty at times. Not like it did when I first bout the weed. So what I am thinking is, did some of the paint that was on the inside of the dugout wear into my weed somehow? When I bought it i did notice some dust with a red tint to it so I cleaned it out and dried it with cu-tips. I even get a nasty smell from my oneie that comes from the resin. So does resin just smell and smoke that bad or does my weed have some sort of paint in it from my dugout? Thanks

If it is shwag are you sure it is not just the weed?

Also dug outs use metal pipes, sometimes I find that weed taste a little different when smoked out of metal. Just my opinion though.

I would also check the cleanliness of your pipe. Is it coated with resin? A pipe with too much resin can effect the taste of the herb.

Yes resin does smell kind of bad and very strong. In fact, my wife can tell when I have been smoking resin or smoking pot.

Maybe there's some kind of crack in between the pipe and compartment? If smoke is getting in their, that would def make it taste like shit. Or it could be that you're storring weed in a non-airtight space. That would also dry your weed out, and make it harsher.

dugouts gets very resiny (is that a word?) very quick..and if you are not careful you will have a mouthful of it. YUK

yeah, like geonagual said. If it's brass, it will smell and taste gross when its resinated up. You should pickup a glass one hitter, which basically looks like a cigarette, but its made of glass, and should fit in the dugout if you get the correct size. iso + salt will do the trick to clean the pipe, just make sure you rinse it well, and dry it out with a q-tip to prevent any oxidation.

Alright thank you, I had cleaned it out a couple times and the first few drags seem very nice but then you can slowly taste it coming on. It can get to the point to where I'm gagging. But it is all good 10 mins latter when I am trying to hold in my laugh, especially because I finally got my girlfriend to try it. I was also going to be buying some better weed this weekend and also thinking about buying a little bowl so I can fit more weed in it then I can now, and also like you guys said so it will be galss not metal. Hey another quick question, I'm going to be buying an 1/8th of some stuff that is better then schwag but I don't know quite how good it is. It is gonna cost me about $60, I live in Minnesota and I have read that prices around here are a bit higher but it can't really be too great of stuff. The only terms I have heard thus far and I haven't been in this buisness long, are mersh and nugg. So I don't know how good the nug is but who knows, gotta be better then picking twigs and seeds out.

do u clean out ur hitter ? just use a q-tip and some water and wash it out.

I live in Elk River. Yah I know it is a steep price but I don't know how good it really is because this will be only my second time buying some.

Yes, dugouts get clogged and nastied up in no time. Not to mention they are metal as well.

You are smoking shagg weed though. That tastes like shit no matter how you smoke it. I'm guessing it's 75% the weeds fault for the bad taste, and 25% of the nasty metal bat you are using.

Get better weed and keep that thing clean. They are easy to clean but get messy and gross tasting in no time.

I suggest a small glass chillium. They are almost as small as a bat but taste waaaaay better and you can pack more than one hit in there too. Not to mention you won't get a mouthful of ash like you do a bat.

I second the glass notion. It is my preference for toking. You don't get the nasty metal aftertaste with glass pipes.

I was under the impression that drying it out and curing it more made the smoke less harsh. Am I wrong about this?

yeah but im 99% sure he isnt trying to cure his weed, hes just got a dugout and is smoking from it. and since dugouts arent airtight, the weed can dry out without curing or anything, and making it burn faster, making it more harsh. im just assuming thats what hes saying because i have a dugout i got a few days back. i fuckin love the thing, but the taste of the bat (i have a half cig sized metal cig bat) sucks, if you inhale too hard, you get a nasty taste in your mouth. i still use it nearly non stop tho, its convenient, its cool as hell, and its sneaky as shit!
