I just got a corn snake and was wondering if the weights on top of this cage would be enough. Each of the weights in the picture are 5 pounds. I've no experience with snakes so I'm not sure exactly how much weight they would be able to displace in order to escape from their terrariums. My corn snake ia but a few months old... you can actually see it at the top left of the cage near the lid

you should be ok just make sure he cant push up in the middle
also you should invest in some tank clips there like $5

should be fine... just don't put anything close to the top of the cage... the longer he has to stretch, the less actual pushing power he will have... never the less tho, that should be more than enough...

lol, i ain't never had a dog or a cat try to eat my snake..... hell if the snake gets intimidated by either it will bite them, and it will hurt... all snake have teeth.... constrictors have looooooots of needle sharp/sized teeth, and they curve back, so pulling away drives them in deeper (which is the natural reaction)
let the cat or dog get bit by that snake once and they won't want to ever get near it again lol....

funny story, my corny somehow escaped and after two weeks he was assumed dead, right?
wrong!, my sister found him in her bed at 2 am, the screams were priceless. :)
but, yea man those clips are a must have, just put 4 of them on the corners and you *shouldnt* even need the weights.
[that wass before the clips, i just had lights on top and assumed it was enough]

My dogs LOVE to watch my snake eat too.
I think those weights should be fine, but I would invest in either the clips or a screen lid that locks. My snake used to get out all the time, but now I have a lid that locks and she hasn't gotten out for like 3 years or so now.
However, my dog has jumped on top of the tank so many times now that the screen is broken, so she could get out.
Luckily my living room is so freaking cold she won't dare leave her heat pad, so I doubt she would escape. As soon as I have enough money here I need to buy a new one.
