Doesn't seem as high as I've heard others having on here. I actually think my tap is 275 or so. Personally I like using distilled water so I know exactly what is in there. However, I just recently read a post on here that gave you a step by step of how to build a filter that will remove about 97% of the disolved soilds out of your water. I tried it and it works.

You build it from the parts inside of one of those "Mr. Clean" car wash kits. It looks funnier than shit but when I tested my PPM of the tap it went from 275 to 9. So it works. I haven't tried it in actual test with my plant yet. I was still gun shy about using the tap water even though it was now only registering 9. But on my next grow I think I'm going to give it a whirl.

But from what I've read, you can use the 200ppm tap. You just need to take that into account when adding in your nutes. But you would be better off using R/O or distilled.

Still cool ,
Anything over 200 might start to cause problems , or require the use of g/h hardwater micro .

hbbusa28, can you post a link to the DIY you mentioned? I'd like to see how to build that filter.

Thanks!!!

Yeah no problem. It was discussed on a thread here but linked to another site. Here you go...

All I needed to do was go to a hardware store and buy a $2 adaptor that fit on my sink. It basically screws onto your faucet and allows you to screw the hose end of the "Mr. Clean" right to your sink. Also you will need some silicone glue (also at the hardware store) and some duct tape for support. May sound complicated, but I am no good with building stuff and I was able to put this together.

It's not bad at all. I do like the use of RO water as well. Pipedreams setup works great. I've played with it as well. YOu can get some good deals on the kits at Kragen's.

Hey Imdesade. Did you have any issues with Clorine or does the Mr. Clean system take that out as well? It takes my PPM down great, but there was still a "chemical" (I'm guessing) oder to the water that the distilled water didn't have. Did you have to do anything else to the water, i.e. let it sit for a while, or anything before you used it on your babies?
