Hmmm since is beeping it obviously senses something connected. Could it be an issue with windows media player trying to open the device :/ . Smoked too so brain is not fully functional :p.

Was just wondering cuz media player likes to take things over if running. Have you tried flashing the firmware or anything?

i dont like ipods
1 their too expensive
2 my sister bought 1 and it took over 3 times to install software on my xp system. she took it back and got an mp3 player(same thing for half price) pluged it in with no software and put songs on it with no problem and it still works perfect

Get Linux man! All iPods work with Amarok(the music player), and if you are having trouble there is so much help online that you can find a tutorial for anything. I would recommend Kubuntu. It is the ubuntu distribution with the KDE desktop manager. It is the most similar to Windows and the easiest for a transition from Windows to Linux.

the whole point i was getting at is ipods are not worth the money and headache, i shouldnt have to download any software to put a mp3 on an mp3 player, it shouldnt take half a dozen times to try to download something
just buy a good mp3 player for half the price if you need a music player

TG it was meant for moshka and the new operating system. I agree with the Ipod not being worth the money anymore, but there was time that it was the best player on the market.
