Well this is the start of my so called 2nd grow. Its actually my 3rd wave of plants as I have 2 sets of different age plants going already. Not to much to say so far. I ordered these seeds from Gypsy Nirvana's Seed Boutique. Ordered them online with a CC and they came in 5 days later in a discreet envelope. I ordered 10 Papaya seeds and got 5 free Skunk X's. Anyways i germed 4 of them with wet paper towels in sandwhich bags. Kept them in a dark warm cabinet and in 2 days they were all sprouted. Transplanted them into potting mix from Hyponex soil and buried them about 1/2" into the soil. Within 2 days all 4 sprouted and I put them into a small corner of my closet till their ready for the flowering corner. Right now they are under 75 watts of cfl lights. 2 - 25 watt cool bulbs in a 7 1/2" reflector clamp light and 1 - 25 watt warm bulb in a desk lamp. They are a bit stretched as I didnt want to get the lights under 6" away from them at first and burn them. Also, the one had a hard time shedding its shell and grew crooked. I moistened the shell the bit and carefully removed it with tweezers. Right now my plan is to veg these for 3 weeks and stick them under the 12/12 and hope for a x-mas harvest! Ok heres the pics.

This is what i am considering the start of week 2 of veg for these plants but they are actually 10 days old. They are really starting to take off now and should be ready in 2 weeks. Not much else to say about them right now.

your soil looks a little dry in those pics, although it may just look that way..just dont overwater them. You definitely need some more light though. Stick a couple of the daylight CFL bulbs in there if you really want to see some action

Miley, I really think i will enjoy watching your grows from now on, you seem to have a good knack for not rushing things, and letting your plants be... well plants
looks nice bro.

Hey Trynagethigh. The soil looks dry because i have had good luck with seedlings by watering them just a little bit every day instead of soaking the soil every few days. I will continue this for about another week till the root system gets big enough to handle more water. They are getting 75 watts of cfl right now and are in a 1.5 cubic foot area. I am right on the 50 watts a cubic foot requirement.
Hey Progro. I have never seen or tried Papaya before. One of the first logs I read on here was by Stinkyattic and she grew Papaya and seemed to like it(as did her friends). I did a bunch of research on it after that and found that it is a short, fast growing, fast flowering, and very resilient plant. That was the jackpot for me. Plus in my area the only good bud you can get in is very piney tasting and I have never tried a fruity variety. These plants are growing way faster then the bagseed I have grown in the past. I am now thinking about moving them to 12/12 a bit sooner then planned.
Hey Skrap. Your too kind man. You got any new pics on your thread? I going to check it out.

Well tonight i discovered some yellowing of the leaves on 3 of the plants. It scared the shit out of me. I gave them some water with just a touch of epsom salt because i am thinking it is a magnesium deficiency. Then later i raised the lights a touch because i figure they got burned. Not sure which one it is just hope it goes away. Its not bad just a few small spots.
miley
10-02-2007, 04:47 AM
Quick update. Well after the first shot of epsom salts they got a bit worse so last night i gave them just a bit more. Relax people, i didnt get crazy with it. Tonight the browning seemed to stop spreading and the plants looked alot better. They are exactly 2 weeks old tonight and they got a small shot of veg ferts for the first time. I'll have pics of them tommorow so everyone can see the brown leaves and see how big they've grown.
miley
10-03-2007, 05:08 AM
This most likely will be the last week of veg for these 4 plants. The brown spotting which is a bit hard to see in the pics is not forming on the new growth. It has spread a bit on the leaves that already had it on. The veg ferts I gave them last night have seemed to perk them up a bit. You'll notice numbers on the leaves in the pics. Learned that from stinkyattic, its to help me keep track of the plants. I got 1 pic of each of them from above and a side shot of plant 2 the biggest one so far.

10-09-2007, 05:48 AM
I entered the closet tonight to discover that my plants were not looking so well. I had company staying over and couldnt get into the grow room for 2 days. All the plants fan leaves were limp and some started really turning yellow. I gave them a good watering with veg ferts since the soil in the pots was completely dry. Within an hour most of the leaves were back were they needed to be and looking better. I was going to put them into flowering tommorow but i dont know if i will do that now. I'll decide tomorrow depending on how they look. New pics tommorow.

Tonight is the big night for me soon to be girls. They are entering 12/12. Hooray! The yellow leaves that looked dead I removed before taking the pics but you can still see some of the other leaves are a bit yellow. Vegging these plants was definately alot harder then the bagseed I have done already but hopefully all the trouble is worth it and i get some nice buds off these.

Make sure to repot them early. And make sure to use good soil... good airy peat-based potting soil. Give them a big 3-5gallon pot. They look really good..

Showtime!
This is when things start getting exciting, I'm drooling waiting for the flower pics.
I vegged my plants anywhere from about 2-5 weeks. One of my tallest (but less leafy) plants was the one that had two weeks of veg. This is going to be an interesting winter for both of us! I hope that this is not the last time we are growing 'together" Its nice to be able to look at someone's plants as they develop when they are around the same age as your own.:stoned:

Well after their first night of flowering my plants are looking better but still have a slight yellow tint to them. I gave them water tonight and if they dont look better in a few days i am gonna give them more epsom salt. Hope i dont have too but i think they have a mag def.
Earthydank. I am gonna let them in the small pots until they show sex in a week / week and a half then transplant the girls into bigger pots with new soil. I dont have the space in my flower room to give them all big pots now. They are sharing the space with 4 bagseed females that are about ready to harvest.
scagster. Glad to hear that. Let me know if you get a log going on here.
Hell yeah Skrap. Have you had any problems with mag def yet? We're definately gonna have some sweet buds for xmas. I think i know what i am getting all my buddies. I tried to get ahold of you on aol just now. I'll msg you again later. I dont wanna post my name on here just to be safe.

My 4 plants have really grown in the last week and should start showing preflowers soon. They are looking alot better since entering the flowering room and dont have any yellowing on the new growth. Sorry that i only got 1 pic of each of them but i'll start taking more once i know their girls.

Well i stuck my head in the grow room tonight and took my first real good look at the plants nd i believe that i have discovered a male. I can definitely see some balls stacking gonna keep a close on eye on it. Its the biggest plant i have too :( . I am starting to see a trend here with the quickest and fastest growing plants being males. It happened in my first grow as well. Anyways, one other thing i noticed is that the plant in the orange cup has 3 fan leaves/branches coming off the main stem. I remember reading on here somewhere about it and that it can possibly be a better yielding plant. Anyone know?

Hey Tokr. Thanks for stopping by.
I checked the sex of the plants again tonight and discovered that I have 2 females and 1 male so far. I took the male out of the flower room and am gonna let it grow for a bit longer hoping to get some pollen to save for later. The plant in the orange cup with the tri leave thing going still has yet to show. I'll probably keep it either way. If it's a male i'll collect some pollen from it.
miley
10-19-2007, 09:17 AM
I just discovered that one of my female plants also has that tri leave thing going on. It's the one in the very small white container so I transplanted it into a bigger pot. I still havent figured out what that tri leave thing is called. If anyone knows please tell me. I also am pretty positive that the other tri leave plant in the orange cup is a male. I am gonna save it for pollen and try to pollinate one of the branches on the tri leaved female. I'm hoping to get seeds with that in the genetics. Its odd that i got 2 out of 4 plants with it.

10-21-2007, 01:34 AM
It's called a polywhorled.
For your next grow, if you can, try and transplant 2 weeks before flowering. After about 10 days or so, all eneregy is put toward flowering and root dev. pretty much stops. Stress can also play a big part when transplanting in flowering and should be avoided.
But, if your plant is root bound then it can help at times.

Hey Growbe. Thanks for stopping in. I busted ass last night on here searching the forums and finally found the name for the tri leaved thing and your really close it is: whorled phytolaxy. These plants were only vegged for 3 weeks so transplanting when they were only 1 week old just wouldnt have been viable but i understand your concern and thanks for the info.
Hey carl thanks for stopping in. My soil is just generic hyponex potting soil from walmart. $1.00 for 10lbs. Pretty sweet deal i think. Seems to be doing a fine job so far.

I have a tri-leaf going right now on a WW I'm growing. It's a female and that extra branch per node is noth'n but extra goodness.
Good luck
i havnt been in the grow forums for a while and just found your thread, I've grown out papaya once and just started my second papaya grow a few days ago. I can definitly say your going to end up with some kick ass buds, when i was trimming mine there were so many cyrstals on the buds that my hands were sticky for days afterwards, it also pretty much ruined my scissors they were so sticky. I also had the problem with yellowing fan leaves, by harvest time almost all my fan leaves were gone. I ended up with about 1.2-1.4 oz's per plant, this time around im hopping for close to 2 per plant. The smoke is amazing, mine was a bit harsh because i didnt have time to flush them for long enough but the buds were so fruity it didnt even smell like weed, all my friends that tried it said it was some of the best weed they had ever had. Enjoy and good luck. oh and if you want to see how they look in flower my grow thread was under "yet another first timer grow log" search for it and you should be able to find it.

Finally after getting females i have decided to give them their names. This is Brooke. She is very tall and is starting to get preflowers at all her major nodes. I really need to get her into a bigger pot but i dont have the room right now. Hopefully next week.
miley
10-24-2007, 04:31 AM
This is my other girl Tara. She is the plant with the tri leave thing going on but it appears that she has returned to how she started which is odd. Only one node has 3 sets of leaves. She was transplanted a few nights ago and is looking good.
miley
10-31-2007, 06:53 AM
This is week 4 for Tara and surprisingly she has reverted back to that tri leaf thing. I hope it sticks around cause shes got 3 main bud sites at each internode that has the whorled effect. She is looking very good and into full blown flowering. Shes stayed alot shorter then her sister Brooke which i am very happy about now since i have no space at all in my grow room.
miley
10-31-2007, 06:57 AM
Brooke is super tall now and is destined to be a super model because of her long legs lol. Her height is kicking my ass right now because i dont have any space at all in the grow room. At least until one of my other females finishes up in the next few days. All is going well with her though but i hope she slows down growing for a few days till I can make some space.
miley
11-07-2007, 08:34 AM
Here is my tri leaved girl finally starting to mature into a hot female plant. Shes finally hit the half way point of her 8 week supposed flowering time. She got a good shot of bud ferts and molasses last night.
miley
11-07-2007, 08:38 AM
Brooke is alot happier now that she has more space under the lights. I finally harvested one of my bagseed plants and Brooke was very appreciative. I am hoping her height has topped out because she is super tall compared to all my other plants. She got a good shot of ferts and molasses last night.

I'm so damn jealous of you. I wanted some papaya so bad but due to a tragic accident i lost 10 PPP seedlings, 9 Papaya seedlings and 9 C99 seedlings leaving me with a single papaya and a single C99.
THe papaya which i truely wanted turned out to be a male and i must say he was probably the most beautiful male i've ever seen. Since i wanted some of this so bad i pollinated my papaya with my C99. I know its a cross but i'm still hoping for one of those seeds to take more of the pappies side.
Anyway though those are some beautiful papaya's and you have to post a smoke report when your done because i want to know so badly!

Tara keeps looking better and better every day. Her buds are really full looking already and I think there might be some truth to the tri leave plants producing more bud. Shes filling out nicely.
wow, your girls are looking amazing. one thing i did notice though is your time line is a little off. what i usually do is asume 2-3 weeks for seedling growth, then 3-4 for veg growth and then start flowering after 5-7 weeks. If you let the plants veg for a little longer theyll end up bigger and stronger and should be ready after only 7-8 weeks of flower vs the 9 weeks your already at, plus if you wait to switch to 12/12 until your plants are showing pre-flowers it will stress the plant out less when making the transition. Your plants look great though, the smoke should turn out amazing.

Hey XMK thanks for the info and I understand what your saying but for the sake of keeping track of how long they have been in 12/12 this method works well. I cant veg my plants for anymore then 3-5 weeks (depending on strain) because of height restrictions in my grow space. Vegging for a short time makes flowering last alot longer but whats a few extra weeks for some good bud.

Here is my super tall girl Brooke starting 3 months of 12/12. She is starting to lean because of the weight of her top cola. Which isnt as big as i thought it would be by now. She's only a few weeks from harvest because about 80% of her pistils are orange now. I still dont see any amber trics yet but when i do that will be the signal for harvest. I wanna let these girls get as big as possible before harvest for max yield.
miley
12-27-2007, 08:41 AM
Heres the best looking girl in the grow room. She is starting to fill out nicely and will be harvested around the time her sister is. Still no amber trics and her top cola is still relatively small compared to the bagseed plants i just harvested which is odd. The smell from her is very sweet and fruity. Only a few more weeks. I am only giving her and her sister plain water now till they are ready.

Lol. King Miley thats great. Thanks Hydro. These plants were vegged for 3 weeks under 24 hours light before going into 12/12. The soil is Hyponex from wally world. It's a dollar for 10 lbs and I havent got any complaints with it so far.

Miley i must say those plants looking effing GREAT! I hate the fact that my only Papaya turned out to be male. But i crossed it into my c99 and i started growing 2 of my C99 x Papaya. I'm hoping for a big female leaning towards the papaya. They are 11 days old do you think any of these 2 resemble papaya at all? I know it might be hard to tell but just running it by you.

Hey thanks Zeb.
GDS - Thanks for stopping in again and for the props. I'm not sure what c99 looks like but the papaya definitely have broad leaves like yours show in the pics. Cross your fingers and pray for females then for mostly Papaya females lol. Keep me posted dude.
I went into the grow room tonight to water all my girls and decided to check out their trics with my 30x loupe. I definitely saw a few amber trics on them signaling that harvest time is near. I'm gonna give them a few days and check the trics again to see how far they have progressed then set a harvest time.

Well here she is 3 months into flowering and just about done. The weight from her top cola has made her lean now which sucks but it'll be ok. Should be a good harvest when the time comes.

My tri leaved girl is just about ready to harvest. It doesnt seem like she has put on any more amber trics so I am gonna let her go for a bit longer. I'm in no rush and want the best and most bud possible from her.

Here's the leaning tower or Piza. I am really happy with the growth of her top cola. It has become quite a bit larger over the last few weeks. It's definately gonna be a few more weeks for this plant because she's still putting on new pistils.

Wont be long now. Shes on the verge of harvest and as soon as I see a few more amber trics the time will be right. All her buds are fattening up and looking delicious.

Due to her lean and the fact that my grow room is crowded again I had to harvest Brooke a bit early. I didnt really want to but I think this was the right time to do it. Her buds smell really sweet and fruity and I cant wait to try them. I didnt get a wet weight on her buds but I'll post a dry weight in a few days before I cure them. Brooke was vegged under 24 hours light for 3 weeks then flowered under 12/12 for 15 weeks.

Here's my tri leaved girl in the final stages of flowering. She still has yet to show more amber trics so I am gonna let her push on for a while. Her buds look alot better then her sisters and I cant wait to see what the total weight is on her. She's not very tall but has really tightly packed buds. She's been getting plain water now for about a month which makes me think I am taking the ferts away from my plants to soon. I'll definitely keep this in mind on future grows.

Man i gotta give it to you those things look effing bomb!!! I also must commend you on having nerves and patience of a rock. How in the hell can you be so patient. I'm ready to chop with a few amber trichs.
Please tell me your secret?!?!?! I must know. What type of soil and nutes did you use for this grow?
miley

Hey GDS thanks for the props and for keeping an eye on this log. The soil I use I bought from wally world. It is the brand Hyponex and is a dollar for 10lbs but actually I have been reusing the same soil since august and havent had any major problems as you can see. These plants got 2 shots of Miracle Grow tomato plant food during vegging. It's just a standard plant fert and for flowering they got Bloom Burst made by the company Expert Gardener. It is 10-52-10. I mix it as the box instructs 1 teaspoon to 1 gallon of water. I give them ferts on Tuesdays and plain water on Fridays. Thats basically it.

Fucking nice!!! I like the way you grow! Everyone makes it seem so difficult and you have to have a million different nutes and top of the line soils to do a good grow but you are another example of how keeping it simple can achieve great results as well.
I'm gonna give that cheap soil a run just to see how it turns out. I may add a few additives but nothing to expensive just to see if i can get some of my stuff to turn out as well as yours have.
Major props bro you deserve it!
Someone has definitely earned some REP!

Here's my girl finally starting to slow down bud growth. It wont be long now for sure and lack of space in my grow room is gonna force the issue of harvest soon anyways. She looks delicious and smells so awesome. Hopefully her buds are packed super tight and have some weight to them.

Jesus man, i can stop laughing at the fact that you can watch this thing bud for this long without harvesting. I would've been whipped out the chainsaw. I gotta give you more rep for your patience once again and thats a stunning girl as well. I hope she gets you high as shit and i know she wont disappoint with a flowering period like that. Next time you could get one of those long flowering sativas seems like that would be perfect for you!

Hey GDS. Thanks for the rep and for all your kind words. I liked the chainsaw joke lol. I probably wouldnt have been able to wait this long if I didnt already have some good bud to smoke while I'm waiting.
Hey babydread. Keep your grow going. CFL's do a good job by themselves it just takes longer to fully flower a plant. I'm gonna give a full smoke report on Brooke later tonight or tommorow depending on how busy i get tonight.

Hey Mountain Dew thanks for stopping in. The dry weight of Brooke was .765 ounces and Tara was .780 ounces. I havent tried Tara yet but Brookes buds are awesome. They taste and smell really sweet like fruit and it leaves a great after taste in your mouth.
Thanks for stopping in again Shov. How have all your grows been going?

I took these pics awhile ago but just forgot to post them on this site. I finally tried the bud in my water bong and it kicks total ass. It has a really sweet taste that remains in your mouth for a while after you've smoked it. THe only bad thing i've noticed is that because the bud is so sticky its not good for rolling joints or smoking in one hitters. Works great in my bong though.
