    Papaya Oh Mya!!!

Well this is the start of my so called 2nd grow. Its actually my 3rd wave of plants as I have 2 sets of different age plants going already. Not to much to say so far. I ordered these seeds from Gypsy Nirvana's Seed Boutique. Ordered them online with a CC and they came in 5 days later in a discreet envelope. I ordered 10 Papaya seeds and got 5 free Skunk X's. Anyways i germed 4 of them with wet paper towels in sandwhich bags. Kept them in a dark warm cabinet and in 2 days they were all sprouted. Transplanted them into potting mix from Hyponex soil and buried them about 1/2" into the soil. Within 2 days all 4 sprouted and I put them into a small corner of my closet till their ready for the flowering corner. Right now they are under 75 watts of cfl lights. 2 - 25 watt cool bulbs in a 7 1/2" reflector clamp light and 1 - 25 watt warm bulb in a desk lamp. They are a bit stretched as I didnt want to get the lights under 6" away from them at first and burn them. Also, the one had a hard time shedding its shell and grew crooked. I moistened the shell the bit and carefully removed it with tweezers. Right now my plan is to veg these for 3 weeks and stick them under the 12/12 and hope for a x-mas harvest! Ok heres the pics.

This is what i am considering the start of week 2 of veg for these plants but they are actually 10 days old. They are really starting to take off now and should be ready in 2 weeks. Not much else to say about them right now.

your soil looks a little dry in those pics, although it may just look that way..just dont overwater them. You definitely need some more light though. Stick a couple of the daylight CFL bulbs in there if you really want to see some action

Hey Trynagethigh. The soil looks dry because i have had good luck with seedlings by watering them just a little bit every day instead of soaking the soil every few days. I will continue this for about another week till the root system gets big enough to handle more water. They are getting 75 watts of cfl right now and are in a 1.5 cubic foot area. I am right on the 50 watts a cubic foot requirement.

Hey Progro. I have never seen or tried Papaya before. One of the first logs I read on here was by Stinkyattic and she grew Papaya and seemed to like it(as did her friends). I did a bunch of research on it after that and found that it is a short, fast growing, fast flowering, and very resilient plant. That was the jackpot for me. Plus in my area the only good bud you can get in is very piney tasting and I have never tried a fruity variety. These plants are growing way faster then the bagseed I have grown in the past. I am now thinking about moving them to 12/12 a bit sooner then planned.

Hey Skrap. Your too kind man. You got any new pics on your thread? I going to check it out.

    Papaya Oh Mya!!!

Well tonight i discovered some yellowing of the leaves on 3 of the plants. It scared the shit out of me. I gave them some water with just a touch of epsom salt because i am thinking it is a magnesium deficiency. Then later i raised the lights a touch because i figure they got burned. Not sure which one it is just hope it goes away. Its not bad just a few small spots.

Quick update. Well after the first shot of epsom salts they got a bit worse so last night i gave them just a bit more. Relax people, i didnt get crazy with it. Tonight the browning seemed to stop spreading and the plants looked alot better. They are exactly 2 weeks old tonight and they got a small shot of veg ferts for the first time. I'll have pics of them tommorow so everyone can see the brown leaves and see how big they've grown.

This most likely will be the last week of veg for these 4 plants. The brown spotting which is a bit hard to see in the pics is not forming on the new growth. It has spread a bit on the leaves that already had it on. The veg ferts I gave them last night have seemed to perk them up a bit. You'll notice numbers on the leaves in the pics. Learned that from stinkyattic, its to help me keep track of the plants. I got 1 pic of each of them from above and a side shot of plant 2 the biggest one so far.
