Hell yeah. I get what you mean. They become immune almost immediately to any poison you throw at them. If the world and all it's nations and countries were to go all out with a big nuclear explosion killing everyone on this planet, I'd say that cockroaches would survive. Ah, the indestructible cockroach.

i agree although i clicked on alien/other cause if a big BIG thing came and took out ur planet then i'm pretty sure nothing would survive in space....except if they were already in space ....like predator...

Is a machine a 'species'?
Ok, I'm sorry, i'm nit-picking...
All I'll say is this: Chicken and Egg...;)

I 'voted' for humanity (bastardised terminology) because you have to look at the general human psyche;
If I can't have it, then no one can!
Vis-a-vis, "The Matrix"...
bring it on, I say...

It all depends on how the next few decades pan out. If scientists successfully create nanotechnology, artificial intelligence and genetic engineering, I think humanity as we know it is certain to change into something strange and unhuman or die at the metal hands and RPG-shooting asses of rebellious machines. If however people realize we are on the verge of discovering technologies that humans will not be able to use responsibly and stop them from coming about, we have a pretty good chance of sticking around so long as we don't fry each other into a radioactive paste.

ha ha, nice dog420.
The Machine, or machine, like comptuiers and robots? I vote humanity.
If that fails, alien/other.
We can only exist under certain conditions right? But what is humanity? Ideals and morals, or the boilogical part of us. If we die for our ideals humanity still exists through our ideals. Universal ideals. Is thats humanity? Is this humanity vs. the machine?
If we don't make it the alines may come to rescue us :), then cock roaches will take over the earth.

My signature says it all realy :D
Back on subject though, technicaly we all could die at any moment, weve fucked the planet up so much that "the day after tomorow" ending to life isa possiblity. Kinda makes me worry less bout life.

Hans Moravec is a research professor at Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute in Pittsburgh:
"Robot controllers double in complexity (processing power) every year or two. They are now barely at the lower range of vertebrate complexity, but should catch up with us within a half-century. By 2050 I predict that there will be robots with humanlike mental power, with the ability to abstract and generalise.
"These intelligent machines will grow from us, learn our skills, share our goals and values, and can be viewed as children of our minds. Not only will these robots look after us in the home, but they will also carry out complex tasks that currently require human input, such as diagnosing illness and recommending a therapy or cure. They will be our heirs and will offer us the best chance we'll ever get for immortality by uploading ourselves into advanced robots."
Chance of super-intelligent robots in the next 70 years: High
Danger score: 8
