I was out of the country for most of this summer. So I come back and smoke a shitload of the weed I got in early June, but I didn't get as high as I think I should've.
This weed was stored in my room, which gets crazy hot if windows aren't opened. They were closed while I was gone.
Do you think my weed has lost some of its potency?

I'm not an expert on stuff like this, but was it stored in an airtight jar? From what I hear thats the best way to store weed over long periods of time.

If air gets to it , it will lose potency and affect the overall high , (thats why drying and curing is so important, to get the right balance )

Yes, I bet that the THC had seriously deteriorated.
When the trichomes (which contain the THC) are still growing, (alive!) they will lose potency if they are left to grow for too long.
It makes sense that it would easily lose potency after they are harvested and left out in the elements.
(THC hates light, heat, (too much) oxygen, and being touched by oily hands.)

yeah chances are if it wasnt in an air tight container or in a freezer after 3-4 monthes its gonna be less potent

I've been picking from an oz I jarred in Nov. Still does the trick. Keep it airtight and it lasts for quite a while. Go to walmart buy a glass jar with rubber stopper lid like the kind you see people keep pot pourrie<sp?> in.

Air, light, and heat break down THC over time, so if it was exposed to any of those since that time, it can break down.
Next time dry it out really well, and store in an airtight container. Personally, I store mine in mason jars and small jam jars with the seperate lid and rim, ensuring air tight. I have kept this ounce in there curing nearly a month, and it smells and looks so damn good after that time.
Any airtight container will do, but I prefer glass. Plastic containers I find give it a plastic-y kind of taste.
