XBox360 vs PS3

Okay this debate has come up in a ton of a topics everywhere, so lets just discuss it here.

IMO currently XBox360 is better than the PS3 because of price, game selection, and the graphics are pretty much the same. But in a year or two I think the PS3 will outshine the XBox360. It's obvious that the PS3 has better hardware but the developers aren't currently taking advantage of it. In a year or two there will be many more games for PS3 and I think the graphics will be better than those of the Xbox360.

It's been shown in the specs time and again that the PS3 is not anywhere near as powerful as they claimed and in fact in many ways the 360 is superior. The only thing that gives PS3 a one up is that it can play Blu Ray movies. That's it.

360 also supports a better game library and that isn't only because of it's year head start, since the PS3 has been released it has seen scores of better titles while the titles PS3 has been relying on keep coming up being not so good.

In fact the only bad thing about the 360 WAS the high failure rate, but now all future 360s will not have that issue and older machines are now protected under and extended free repair warranty for the problem.

You add to that the large price difference and the answer is simple...

360 is superior hands down.

Actually its only been shown that the 360 has more RAM than the ps3, meaning that some games require you to save some data onto the harddrive to reduce load times. The graphics cards that the consoles use are basically the same, but the more powerful cpu means that the games can process more information. Also, the 1080p output, backwards compatability, changeable harddrives, free network use, the six axis, and blu rays being able to hold more, makes the ps3 better imo. That being said, xbox live is awesome, and a lot of the games coming out are cheap ports of the 360 version. I like both consoles, as they have advantages and disadvantages, but im a ps3 man. Oh and btw, yes i am a fanboy ;)

actually the ram is the same while the 360 has one 512mb ram unit that the processing unit AND the graphics processing unit share the ps3 has one 256mb ram unit for the processing unit and another 256mb ram unit specifically for the graphics processing unit if you do ur math that adds up to 512mb and it gives the develepors more flexibility with the ps3 the xbox is more straightforward hence a lot easier to make games for while the ps3 with its crazy ass cell processor makes it much more difficult/time consuming to program for but its potential is undeniable higher then the 360's, how much higher? not to sure since the 360 can definitely pump out real good graphics, AI, etc. it all comes down to how well the game developers can take advantage of the technology that both systems offer

just get a new harddrive if you think you'll ever fill up 20 gigs... which unless you just store all your music on your ps3, you would probably have to get a bigger harddrive...

o i never even looked at the link, i read the rest of what u said and assumed it was a ps3 hard drive. But that still costs more than an xbox 360

yes it does cost more, but when you factor in no one really needs a harddrive bigger then 20 gig (more then enough to keep your save files on and all your demo's and videos) and it doesn't cost money to play online with PS, it pretty much evens out... 450 for the system and everything straight outta the box you need to get online....

the price is no longer really a factor in the next gen fued. and yes i know it took them long enough to lower the price :p i still think the 600 price tag is too steep (but atleast with the 600 one now you get motorstorm and an (which is a decent game if you like racing) 80 gig harddrive)

80 gigs is just too much, why would u really need that much memory on a game system, i have a 30 gig mp3 player that can hold all of the media on my computer (about 300 songs, every episode of scrubs, weeds, and the boondocks, and 2 movies) with room to spare

Well to be fair to the PS3. When I bought my PS2 HDD (with Final Fantasy XI) FFXI took nearly HALF of the HDD up with the base program and patches.

With more and more content in gaming being "download content" and with games needing more and more space because of HD quality video feed we are going to need more than just 20gigs for sure. Hell standard in an average store bought PC now is 80gigs...

xbox360 = PS3 in graphics. IMO what makes a good game isn't the graphics, but everything else they put into it. The only reason you need graphics is for you to try a game in the first place.
xbox360 > PS3 for game development. GTAIV is running late because the devs can't figure out the PS3!!!! Stupid Sony!!!!!! Now all of us get screwed cuz of the PS3 when the xbox360 version is ready.

Bluray? Well you can buy a 360+HD-DVD player for less than a PS3.
IMO this format war is the stupidest thing ever. All the companies saw it coming from the beginning. Couldn't they just make an agreement before they invested a lot? The companies deserve it cuz all of them are so stuck up in their asses, but it's not the companies but the consumers that get pwned.

Wii gets sold out at Best Buy the day of delivery still. Crazy.
Xbox360 STILL GETS SOLD OUT ocasionally. How long has it been out? Over two years?

PCs > consoles period btw. At least for those who can handle it. The only reason the consoles are doing so good now is that the parent companies are pushing and pushing the games, marketing, etc.

In 1-2 years the average gaming PC will have better graphics than the xbox360 or PS3. Plus there is a much better PC community for the games. There is a lot of modding, more clans. Games last longer on PC. Think of CS and Battlefield and all the MMORPGs. Console games tend to be games you will play for max 2-3 months. Good PC games are timeless.

only games i realy play on console are online games, and i can tell you, the only reason they may last only 3 months, is for the simple fact that i find a new adn better game i'd rather devote my time to.

btw, 420, i was saying that you don't really need to go out and spend 600 for the 80 gig, you don't really need that much space, i've got pretty much all the demos and still haven't even taken up like 10 gigs... and if you think you do well you can always go out and buy a new bigger harddrive for like 100 bucks and have like 150 gigs...

well on my 360 i have ffxi loaded on there and if i dl 3 demos i have 1 gig left so 20gigs is not much when u have games like ffxi

i was: 60 rdm, 50 whm, 29 blm, 25 nin, 20 smn (with all smn's minus fenrir and diablos) and everything else between 5-10...

also had 70 woodworking, 29 alchemy, 20 goldsmithing, 10 blacksmithing, 10 fishing....

millions in gear (i have a 75 smn/whm/rdm to help me out with gil and items)...

then i decided for the third time i was quitting for good, but this time i sold my account... about a year of playtime as well...


like 9 months later that friend finally talks me back into playing...

currently i'm 46 rdm/blm... with crappy gear and no crafting skills...

sucks being a noob again =/


btw let me know when you get 55-60... i can show you how to solo as a rdm and solo toughs (very toughs if you're feeling brave/need skill ups) ... it's a damn good thing to do while LFP... shit, as 'needed' as rdm is, i could still manage to get half my level waiting (doesn't take forever, it is slower then partying, but it still brings in some good exp, not like you spend 20 mins on one enemy)

well, recently, you can now switch servers alongw ith everything you own, including your gil... but it can only be done once every 3 months and it costs you 25$ (which is good considering this was not a possiblity for 3+ years)

come to valefor and i will help you level... i won't get you to 75 lol... maybe get you to 40 or so (i can use my friends account to plvl you)

but plvling is very boring lol.. and very time consuming...

other then that all i can really tell you is, speed lvl (take any and all pties, any exp is better then none) until you can get to where you can solo decent exp (as a rdm, it takes being atleast 50, and even then it's kinda hard... at 55+ it gets alot easier... you HAVE to have convert, refresh, and alot of teir 2 ele spells)

think of how long it takes you to solo an Easy prey at your level... it takes you about 1 and a half times worth easy prey to take down a tough at that level which weilds 100+ exp WITHOUT exp ring.

FFXI is a very time consuming game.... i mean look above to what i've accomplished..... that took roughly 8,800 hours of PLAY TIME (not membership time)

and as you're well aware of by now, the higher you get, the more exp it takes to level... just wait til you have to get 20,000+ to level... at near 60, it starts taking 10,000+ to level each time, and it only gets steeper.

but it does equal out... at that level, everyone pretty much knows their job in and out, and mobs just start to fall like grass under a lawn mower... and especially with TOAH (treasures of aht urhgan) exp has soared... 40-50 exp chains instead of 4-5.... stay rdm tho and don't go blm...

blm really has no place in higher lvl parties anymore, with that expansion a new party order came... which is quite simply... tank, dd, dd, dd, healer, refresher (rdm/brd) there's really no place for anyone else... hopefully that will be addressed in WOTG

yea it took me forever it seemed to get to 30 but i was doing more mining and fishing and ironworks rather than lvling but yes that game is very very time consuming
