Well, what do you think of them?
I have joined a few of them in the past month..just to see..to my surprise..the response has been huge..which is a great boost to my ego..like I need any of that. LOL
it seems to me, that it is a good way to pre interview someone before you spend the time to go on a date. Most all have a profile and pictures, which is a good way to see how they look and then also how they write and think..
I havent met any women off of them yet, but am considering a couple of girls right now..seems like we have lots in common..my only thing that I worry about is that the ones that I do click with are much younger than me..should I really even be worried about that?

One of my friends is doing the internet dating thing as an ego boost. She has memberships to eHarmony and Match.
She says everyone on eHarmony seems very conservative and marriage-driven, almost DESPERATE for a ring.
She's having a TON of fun on Match, going out on a lot of dates, but finding few people who are interested in much more.
I still strongly believe that the best way to meet people is through your hobbies. I'm dating a dude who I met on here though- does that count as 'through hobbies' or 'internet dating'? :D

I wish I got paid for mentioning plentyoffish.com ... it's a great *completely free* site that's taking over the world. It's the biggest site for anywhere that's not American, but I think they're the 3rd biggest or 5th biggest in the states, so it's still quite populated.
I've met quite a few cool people from there, and one not so cool, but the good definitely outweighs the bad.

Go for it, Geonagual! My sister met her husband on match.com. And I know lots of others who've done the same thing. I also know a few people (three or four of my former male colleagues from work) for whom those sites serve as a great source of booty-call companions and nothing more. So I think you can make of them what you want.

I dont know.. I always thought that was for desperate people but these days it seems to be getting more and more popular especially with people using other websites like bebo and myspace as a dating website in a way like they would look for peoples profiles who live near them find someone who they thinks sounds and looks attractive and get in contact with them, this seems to be getting a more and more popular way to meet people.
But yeah just because they're online you never know you might have a great bond together like birdgirl said go for it!

what is a good website for something like a one night stand? i know there are a bunch out there, but when i get on them, you have to pay, and some of the chicks on there don't even look like they are real(maybe pornstars or something). on a related note, i have a friend who met a girl online who said she was 18, and she turned out to be like 16. he almost went to jail for it:(

yeah i was thinking about it, but i didn't know if that would be safe. can you get in trouble by the police for hooking up with people on there?

Are you asking about safety from police action or prosecution from "hooking up with people" on Craig's List sexually? Because if you're just looking for a one-night stand and you're over the age of consent, that's consensual sex. Which is perfectly legal. But if you're looking for fee-for-service sexual favors, then that's a different matter. Pandering and soliciting prostitutes are illegal, prosecutable offenses.

on a side note, I too used to think meeting people on the internet was a "lame" way for antisocial type folks to meet through their online geekiness, but I have since rethought that and it makes sense to me. I mean, think about it why would we rule the internet out as a way to meet people? We already use it for hobbies such as four-wheeling or backpacking, why not for dating and hooking up? After all, it is just another social gathering ground much like the bars. Only difference is that most of the internet BS guesswork is eliminated in the first 3 minute of talking so take yer pic.
