oh skink, you thought you had thought of everything this time with the i can't decide thing huh? :p you forgot ribs man! the one i coulda actually answered!

i'm not a griller tho... becoming a good griller requires decades of heavy drinking :p atleast in tx... i'm not qualified for bbq yet... maybe in 20 years tho...

and gas grill defeats the entire purpose... might as well rig up some grilling rack over your stove... it'd cost alot less then getting a gas grill and paying for the gas...

Oh holy HAHAHA nice one Skink!!! I completely agree that gas grills are unsatisfying if you crave good BBQ.

I love a good T-bone, or a ribeye if it is cut thick enough, but my very favorite is ribs- not the little wussy baby back ones, but big ribs you have to eat with both hands.

And they must be cooked over charcoal.

I have cooked on charcoal from 1963 to 1997. Then I got a gas grill. Tastes the same to me, only quicker.

slip's quote reminded me of the time a charcoal grill almost killed me. (long story, can't type that much)....:D...

I hope pot did not impair your judgement... Maybe just use the gas for a hickory smoker...

I see those requests in Feedback and Suggestions for a book sub-forum and a fitness/exercise sub-forum. But with all these food-related threads Skink starts, what we really need is a Food Preferences sub-forum!

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Brisket.
Rubbed with my secret blend of spices.
Slow smoked all day on the gas grill, then finished over low coals on the weber.
MMMMMMMMTasty.
You can literally see the flavor.

My favourite cut of beef is fillet. I think this should be everyones if they have ever had one cooked perfectly. It just melts in you mouth. Some of the options for this poll are braising meats anyway which you cant grill.

Beef fillet is proberly the hardest to cook as it doesnt have as much fat as some of the other cuts but just make sure you get it sealed in a hot pan (but not too hot as it will be dry) then finish it in the oven at 200 C. I dont like grilling meats anyway because if you havnt sealed the meat first you will lose a lot of the juices. Also you dont get pan juices which are essential for making a good sauce/gravy. I see people discard the pan juices and it is a total waste of flavour. When the meat is cooked take it out to rest then heat up the pan on the stove. Deglaze with wine (red for steak), then add stock and reduce by half. Check seasoning and you are left with the best gravy ever.

HAHA! This thread is funny..

"Might as well boil it" that killed me

Carlings black label...that beer is good...my friend used to try and peer pressure me into going past my 6 beer limit..I can say that I have drank 11 of these..my own personal record of most beers at one time. Impressive, huh?

Gas and charcoal are the same to me too.
I choose a porterhouse anyday over all steaks.

lol, I like the random beer talk. Are you talking about the carling 500ml cans. A 6 beer limit of carling isnt that many, but drinking 11 is quite a lot. I reckon I could handle about that many maybe a few more

Now that I think of it, any piece of dead animal grilled on the BBQ is damn good, using the right seasoning and spices.
