sorry for the bad question, but i know nothing really about HPS lights...i was wondering what exactly a ballast is and what they do, i have 2 250 watt hps lights and need to know what to do about a ballast...
any replies are greatly appreciated...

Ballasts are complicated, expensive, put off an annoying buzzing sound, but necessary. Theb bulbs you got are worthless without one or two.
