View Full Version : How to know if a member is male or female

Well... if i remember well, when we register on cann.com, we say if we are male or female. So, i would like to suggest to put this information at somewhere visible, cause sometimes the avatar and the name of the person are not enough to define if its a male or a female...
Like a different color on the name, or somewhat like this...

Just ask 'em nicely..

Good idea I guess... but keep in mind that some may not really want strangers to know this type of info. If you really don't know the gender of somebody by their posts, it doesn't hurt to ask politely. I agree though that the option should be made available in the profile.

Well... there could be an option for choosing if you want your gender being visible or not... just like the reputation is enabled/disabled.
And i dont mean knowing about one person in particular... i only think its nice to know if the person posting is male or female... it would be annoying if after everybody posted, i posted after like "Excuse me, Are you a guy or a girl?"...

I think we need some way to tell the color of a poster's hair.
Or their hat size.

Males generally mature faster.. check the growing tops for balls.. and if it's slow and steady growth , it probably is a female...

urrr....

Some forums have the little gender symbols in their post... Some peeps are not keen on revealing or they wood,,,Like Reb... if it where to be an option,,, I would rather it be controlled by the member... I kinda like figuring it out myself...

There's only way to really be sure.
We should all post naked pix of ourselves.
(Even that isn't 100% since half of us would post pix of Paris Hilton.)

Steve, you're a silly guy. And its 7 3/4 when brand new, so it can shrink to 7 5/8.

....if we have a color for men and a color for women, then we'll have to have a color for hermaphrodites and transsexuals and asexuals and trisexuals etc. etc.

it could get quite exhausting and confusing, not to mention a bit messy.

I dont think theres any need for something like that. If you want someone to know than put it in your profile. Theres no reason to further perpetuate the gender devision that is so rampant in our society. You should treat everyone the same, regardless of gender.
Whats next? A listing of someones sexual preference?

That's why I post a disclaimer in my sig- I was tired of people calling me a him, and I realized there wasn't a standard way for them to know I was a chick.

But the icon would be a good idea, though, of course it would be voluntary.

I'm still amused that people refer to me as 'bro' almost daily. Does the pink av and the profile pic of Jess Rabbit not tip ya off? lol
But it's fine; if making assumptions about someone's gender makes you feel more comfortable talking to them online... I mean, it IS the internet... gender is sorta secondary to post content.

I shopped it, and the name Purple Banana came from a banana I had found in the back seat of my car that was so old, it was hard and purple.

it's probably because of the av that they think you're a guy. if there's a woman in the av the person behind it is usually a man, especially if it's a sexy pic.

well, i tried to use the pic of you smokin' with your unicorn as my av, but janis threatened to smother me in my sleep. i did have to zoom in on that pic to make sure you weren't really doing something rather kinky with an exceptionally well endowed unicorn.

Well... i think 4 options should be enough...

Sex:
-Male
-Female
-Something between the above ones
-None

I'm not nessecarily against it, but it could make all the chicks in here victim to pervs. It seems like whenever sex or sexuality gets brought up in a site, forum or whatever, it turns into a bunch of people doing nothing but trying to get some online. Take RebGirl420 for instance. She put a pic of herself on her avatar (something most of us don't want to do) so everybody knows she's a really attractive lady. Now she can't seem to post anything even closely resembling a sexuality thread without being hit on, picked on, talked about or whatever. I really kinda like sex not being brought into this forum, except in the Sexuality and Realtionships forum. It makes people actually talk about other stuff. Just something to consider.
