I've heard many a time on these forums and others that weed leads to enlightenment (sp?) a creative mid and i just read "cresistence to the man" although i dont remember who said it.
When i think back to the pre-weed days i remember being very naive when it came to certain things. Mostly things that were on the news and in news papers regarding Goverment, Englands and other countires included. At the time i either didn't take an interest or i just believed it.
Now, however i find myself doubting everything i see and read. I wonder why one sotry may get a hell of alot more exposure than another, maybe more important one. For instance, Englands part in the war in Iraq has been widely documented in the uk however, tha fact that we still had soldiers in Afghanistan was something i only saw on the news somewhere in the region of six months ago. Of course i could of just missed those news reports or not read a paper that day. But that happens very rarely.
I doubt the official story from 9/11, although i did the instant i saw the footage of the towers falling. I doubt the "ofiicial" story of the Lonond Tube Bombings. This is something i acutaly believed for a short while but after reading other articles on the event and the account of a survivior i changed my mind. It's just come to my mind though that few of the things that "surivivors" who were interviewed shortly after the attacks didn't add up.
So i wonder, is this down to weed? Has it Enlightened me, has it given me resistence "to the man", or is this paranoia?

Weed definitely changed MY way of thinking at least.

Weed changed my way of thinking, but in a different sort of way. My relationship with the Man has always been a tricky one, but I outright hated the government before I started smoking pot. Now I work for the Man in DC as a "summer hire" (I sit behind a desk for $14 an hour! WHOOO!). However, being in that position has opened up some interesting opportunities for me to be a marijuana activist, which I'll discuss later.
(That, and most of my paycheck is going towards pot. :-P)

Im the same way.... I used to be a weed nazi before I smoked, than I tried it and liked it, and researched why it was made illegal, and now that I know racism and corruption were big parts of its prohibition, its got me thinking" what else have I been lied to about..."

I definitely noticed a positive change a few years back. I have become pretty damn open minded, and I really like it. In 'real life', I'm not a 'stoner' at all...I try to like everybody and everybody likes me. A member here budsmoker only told me based on my posts that he likes how I don't "hate for no reason"...which I thought about and I agree. It takes a lot for me not to take something into consideration. I think it may have had something to do with the trees or other things that created my 'live life for the fullest and in the moment/don't give a fuck' mentality that I've grown to love.
Then again, I see members here that are extremely, unnecessarily close minded and stubborn and it really gets to me...so I dunno if it's the weed based on that alone. People I know that don't smoke are a lot more open-minded then a lot of people here. I'm pretty sure I can tell the people who have many or no friends based on some posts. I think that for some people, weed can and will detract them from society.

"It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring."
-Carl Sagan
Mary Jane taught me to be a free thinking individual who is not afraid to question anything. Be diverse, practice different arts, interact with different groups of people while being fearless as you live life. I'm proud to be different - I cannot deny myself this any longer. Every single fucking day in school I would smile to myself while watching others act and ponder "They are different than me... So blind yet so content with the most petty characteristics in life."
I cried at the end of Brokeback Mountain. I've never done that with any movie ever in my life. I listen to the album Meddle by Pink Floyd then switch to Mozart's 38th symphony in D Major while everyone else I know is jamming to some bullshit 50 cent rap about how he got iced in the face yo.
Now I'm beginning to ramble, but in all honesty if you call this mindset anything besides enlightened I would call you a damn fool.

This could also be caused by maturity. Since a lot of people start smoking weed in their early teens, they attribute their new found perception to cannabis. In reality, they've just 'grown' up inside.
I'm not saying weed didn't help shape your perception, just saying that it most likely didn't do it by itself.
great point Billionfold. Ive heard alot of how weed has enlightened people and made their perspectives grow. Im sure it somewhat is but alot can be contributed to the fact that most people start toking in their formative teen years

I think weed has helped me to understand that moral law, and the law of the land are not always one and the same.
I also only play music high, otherwise I overthink what I'm doing and it leads to more mistakes, so I prefer to play high because it allows me to feel the music more, and makes me more creative.

I've always hated cops
About the only thing it changed my perception on is that before I smoked, I thought that a normal dime bag was about an ounce, And people smoked pot as often as other people smoke cigerettes.

i think smoking helps you look into yourself. in everyday life we are so focused on the outside world, like our popularity and money and job and friends, that we dont usually take the time to really look into ourselves. not just looking into the world from the mind, but at the mind itself. (does that make sense??) when i smoke i become aware of ME. and of the awareness of me. and i think to myself, about myself and get to know myself. when you look into yourself like that, for me at least, it teaches you to look into everything in that way. like in one way, to not always accept things for their face value. just like in the human mind, in the outer world alot is not as it seems. sometimes i wonder if the REAL reason for weed being illegal is if everyone smoked and had those thoughts that it seems to open up in so many people, our government would not be here for very long at all. that would certainly make sense. anyways the weed-change, its a feeling im pretty sure they havent invented a word for yet. maybe ill invent one..

I've made many new friends through connections of the herb, found health benefits, and opened my mind to many new experiences.
I'm still the same person, but I'm more aware of a lot of the bullshit that's still going down politically- I can help change it, though.
I don't see working for The Man a bad thing, on the contrary, it funds my pocket for herb expenses- my work is paying for my weed, and basically negating the work of the anti-pot forces. It's just my small personal contribution by uttering a tiny "fuck you" to the oppressors.

Weed, I think, allows you to use more of your brain when you're stoned.
The wondrous thoughts that the stoned mind comes up with are incredible, and can make one question the very foundations on which life is based.
Weed has done nothing but good. Since I've been smoking it, I've become about 300% more friendly and sociable, I've been able to see through bullshit, as people say, I've become extremely open-minded, and I generally just have the ability to appreciate beauty and wonder as well.

Weed hasn't changed me. It has helped a great deal though. I think billionfold has a valid point. Also the thing about goverment, is that if you see that they are lying to you about one thing, what else could they be lying to you about? Not paranoia to me, just instinct.

As my mate Big G always said to me "It opens ya' third eye" Which I have found it really does, after you have smoked weed you tend to take a more in depth look into life and it's details. I feel I'm a much more cultured person since I have been smoking weed, and certainly a lot more mature.
Billionfolds explanation is a nice one too.
