Hi to all you world wide gowers, wot it is i am in the uk and the cfl bulbs dont have much info on the box and wot spectrum they are, So is there any other way to find out on the bulb box or should i just go to a proper grow shop and get them. Any info on CFLs would be grateful and wot to look for on the bulb boxes in the diy store.:rasta:

It will all depend on what you intend to use them for, Veg or Flower. I would say to get some of the daylight spectrum. There is a chart of what color spectrums do for certain areas of the plant. I think you may be able to find it in the FAQs.

Good Luck!

Cheers mate wanting to use them for both parts of the grow (veg+flower) I no i will need to types of bulbs heard there woz one bulb that to use from start to finish. Only got small closet to just getting some experience as my last grows i never had any of the proper stuff to start with apart of a 600watt bulb with reflector wich cooked all my plants LoL. Wots the best thing to look for on the bulb packets to tell you wot spectrum they are.
Cheers Again my friend and if i need any more advice is it ok to send you a thread.:stoned:

Cheers peeps, i am growing some Master Kush plants the now under CFLs. I saved the plants as they where nearly dead in ther peat pots and over waterd with tap water, Not expecting any thing from this apart from experince but suppriesd how well they are doing there is 3 of them under 2 100watt cfls and i had potted them into bigger pots and fed them Bio-Grow and use a clip fan for air circulation,

MedMan - Here's a foto of what your Master Kush should look like. Notice the difference? This plant was grown under cfl's, but a whole lot more than you have going.

Here's a couple tips on cfl's - First of all, stop with the equivelant watts talk, unless you want to smoke "equivelant bud" (that's where you get an 1/8th and tell yourself it's an oz.). Seriously, tho, everyone here talks about cfl's in "real watts" and if you are talking equivelant watts ... well you can see where that would lead.

If the bulbs you are looking at state the color range, you want around 6,000K for veg and around 2,500 for flower. If the bulbs dpon't say the spectrum, you want "cool white" or "daylight" for veg, and whatever else they have for flower. (When you turn the bulbs on, the veg bulb will look very white and the flower bulb will look very yellow.

All that being said, 600 watts of cfl's is going to put out just about as much heat as 600 watts of hps. Get, or make, a cool tube and get some light on those plants of yours!!! There's a couple of good DIYs on cool tubes in the FAQ section and you can build one real cheap.

Good luck!!!

Yes, if your CFLs are the equivalent type, then your "100 watt" cfls are really around 26 watts I believe, and need to be as close as possible to your plants. Like, a half inch. Because your plants are super stretched, especially for a kush. Pharmacan showed a pic of what yours should look like.

Get those lights closer and you'll see the difference.

Cheers for that peeps, It is very appreciated for your comments and advice, as i said before this is my first attempt. I did not know that about my bulbs i just took it for granted as on the box it said 20watt Energy and 100watt of light. I have got another 4 bulbs but just need to go and get more fittings and wire, i think i will do that today so that would be 6 bulbs. I want to go for an HPS system but the house i am in the now is a studio flat with no space at all. Only got one cupboard and thats the one i am using just now its only 5 foot high, 1f 8inches wide and 2foot depth. Trying to get a bigger house the now. The best of it is i have a ballast, Reflactor, and 600watt bulb in my mums house but have no room for it here. I have put them into 12/12 cycle, does anyone think that the plant will bud. As i said i have not expected to get anything out of these plants but experience. Cheers again for your advice and Happy Growing
