I smoked pot for the first time a couple of weeks ago on a trip to Amsterdam with some friends, but smoking it didn't get us high (we were all first time users.) Several people told us that the first time we smoked it, we wouldn't get high. Why is that? The only theory I have is that the first time you smoke you don't know how to inhale properly.

We really wanted to get high, so we ended up buying spacecakes. It took a good 2-3 hours, but we finally got high from that. It was great! We had the best time.

Of course I want to do it again, but I really HATED smoking that joint. Did anyone else feel that way when they smoked for the first time? I've never even had a cigarette before, so this was my first time smoking anything. Anyway, it was very unpleasant and I would much rather eat pot in a brownie than smoke it. Is this a normal feeling after smoking for the first time?

I personally love nothing more then a joint in my mouth, it just takes some getting use to, unless you have a lot of money i dont think you can just make brownies all the time.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'harsh', but I thought it was gross. I didn't like the feel of inhaling the smoke and the taste wasn't good. If that was the only way to get high (although I know it's not), I'm not sure that I would do it again. Well, maybe once more, just to see if I have the same feeling the second time.

I don't think you inhaled properly.

Yeah, you probably didn't inhale properly. I remember the first time I got high, it wasn't like any high I've had afterward, mostly just being kind of out of it... give it another try, and if you don't like joints try using a bong, you can make a decent bong out of items found around the house (given you have something metal or glass that would work for a bowl).

Was that many people are somewhat deficient in endocannabinoids (THC-like chemicals that our bodies produce naturally) and they couldn't get high until the receptors that use endocannabinoids were full of THC. Your body just grabbed all the THC to make the "hungry" receptors "happy"- and NONE of it got to your brain. No THC in the brain= no high.

I don't know how accurate this theory is, but it seems to make sense to me. Also, eating cannabis makes it go another route (through the liver) and it changes other non-THC cannabinoids into stuff that can get you high. You kind of "primed the pump" with smoking, and then ate enough to get you high.

Just keep toking, darlin', and you WILL get high! However, if smoking is distasteful to you, try a vaporizer- MUCH smoother and easier on the lungs! Like you, I don't smoke tobacco and as far as I'm concerned, tobacco is for killing insects or using in potpourris!

Thanks for the advice. Next time I think I will try a bong or a vaporizer.

if you just don't like the smoke, i doubt a bong is gonna change that.... it could actually even be worse... bongs give you much bigger hits, which means more smoke...

i'd suggest just vaping it (but i doubt you have one lol, they're not exactly cheap)

I don't smoke cigarettes either so weed was a little bit rough the first time I did it too but I first did it with a carbed glass pipe so that was kinda harsh. What you should do it just by 5 or 6 joints and smoke them like 1 or 2 a day over the next week/week and a half and you'll get used to the taste and feel. I didn't like it at first either but now I love it.

wow I wouldn't trust your palate if you've never even smoked a cigarette before. The first time I blazed, I had smoked dozens of cigarettes. I was handed a corn cob pipe with shwag and I thought the smoke tasted like burned hot dogs and I did not get high, even though I inhaled properly. I got stoned celestial-style about my 3rd time. It takes a little practice. But if you can discreetly vaporize, that is the way to go

Yeah, use a bong. I love them. I've made a few, and they work really well. One of them is made out a trophy [the tube part], with a small metal pen that works as a slider carb, that fits into a bigger clear pen that goes to the bottom. The bowl is just a socket, and when I want to toke a huge bowl, I just put a bigger socket onto the normal bowl. There's no duct tape at all, and it looks killer. So yeah, if you hate joints, and don't want to go out and buy a bong, just make one. It's really important though that the bowl isn't plastic or tin. Just to be safe I'm going to tell you to only use a socket.

I don't think that will be a problem for me. I only intend to get high occasionally. Maybe every 2-3 months when I'm out with friends and I want to relax and have fun.

Wow, that's a lot! Unfortunately, I don't have time to do that. I'm a stay at home mom of three kids and would never smoke around them. I'll probably only get to do this when I'm out with friends (which is rare.)
