Today I got my perscription for Imitrex, a pill that is supposed to stop migraine headaches, refilled. When the lady told me the total I had to pay I gasped. It was $82.65 for 20 pills. Every other time I bought the pills I only had to pay $10-20. I told the lady it seemed a bit higher than usuall and she did some things on her computer but came back and told me that's just what the price was. Then she told me something that shocked/;boiled my blood. The retail price of those pills (what I would have to pay without insurence) was $400!

$400 for 20 pills that don't even really do anything to me. This is robbery. It makes me sick at how much money these pharmaceutical companies charge for these drugs they tell us we need. Its a big fucking conspiracy and I get more and more sick of it every day that these scumbags jack up the prices for this bullshit medicine.

I just felt like getting that frustration off my chest. Now its time for me to take a toke of my real medicine that cost me only a small fraction of that imitrex garbage.

During chemotherapy, I had 11 different medicines I was suppose to take, but 1 in particular that was to help prevent Nausea.

Retail price without insurance for this pill called Zofran. $100 per pill

Now.

1/4 OZ of good quality Marijuana $100.

You decide.

Its a conspiracy. It has to be. These companies pay millions of dollars a year to research medicines and the best they can do is shit out a $100 placebo. I wish there was some medical company that cared more about people than profits.

Yeah it's BS....My pills are pretty expensive even with some pretty good insurance. Although my xanax only cost 5$ for 30pills.

This is exactly the reason marijuana is still illegal. If it were legal, people could grow their own medication and the FDA wouldn't be able to rip people off.

lol! It felt like a $100 placebo, it was nowhere as effective as weed. Seriously, during the last 2 cycles of chemotherapy, I stopped taking the meds that were suppose to relieve the symptoms of chemotherapy. Weed seriously worked much better, it was a difference between night and day. Not only that, during the first 2 cycles, I lost alot of weight. During the last 2 cycles, I gained weight, because I was able to eat alot, and didn't have as much nausea.

I understand why some things cost money. The cycles needed of chemo for the uninsured would come around to $30,000, enough to buy a damn car. That's only because people who have cancer need it, and certain kinds are needed as much as others. But for pills? That's ridiculous. Not to mention the advertising involved they could've went without to cut down costs.

But really, if you have a serious disease, and you have no insurance, you are essentially dead, out on the street like a stray dog. That's the saddest part of all.

The reason your xanax are so cheap is because when a pharma company comes out with a new product such as Immitrex, they hold a patent for I think 5-7 years. After this time runs out other smaller companies such as watson labs can get the formula and make cheaper pills. So while pills are under the protection, they try to get as much money as possible before they have to reveal the formula. Phizer is about to lose the viagra patent, and merc is going to lose there cholestrol one.. can't think of the name right now.

yeah I have a serious heath condition that not a lot of people know about and I really don't want to talk about, and no health insurance or medical records thanks to my loving and caring mother. I know if I applied for health insurance I would get denied, because as soon I take the physical, they would tell me either to find a rich relative that's willing to help me out, or enjoy life while I can. So I'm taking the latter. I am most definitely cool with the fact that I'm never gonna be old enough not to be able to make it to the toilet on time and have to get some pissed off hungover nurse to change my shitty diapers for me, especially after spending 6 months painting a huge nursing home.

What, putting a price on a person's health? I guess you'll make a lot of money.

It's happiness that matters anyway, right?

Sometimes, it does take a life-changing disease to truly appreciate life.

True that. I wouldn't have my life any other way. I'm the happiest person I know.

Sam, the legal ones are the worst ones for you. Remember a good portion of them are derived from the same plants as heroine and cocaine.

I know that, from experience. But still, I just want to play with drugs, and save/helps peoples' lives at the same time I guess.
