I just saw a water cooled cooltube on ebay, claims to take 93% of the heat from a 1000w bulb. Doesn't need any special venting or fans, just a water pump. $375 though, ouch! Wonder if it works?

Here's the link: eBay: Water Cooled Grow Light (item 220109252495 end time May-14-07 06:06:20 PDT) (http://tinyurl.com/268joy)

I am in no way affiliated with or even know this person.

Seen em ,
Kinda scary , all I keep seein is me getting knocked on my ass gettin zapped and losing a 1000w bulb in the process . Could buy 3 reg cool tubes for that price too , or 2 tubes and 1 blower to cool them .
Peace

im sure it would run cool but think it is probably not that great and the light having to pass through 2 pieces of glass and water is really going to rob alot of lumens.

you can check this out its a hydro-coil (http://www.hydroponics-plus.com/hydro-coilinfopage.htm) that comes with the old turbo gardens you might have seen in hightimes.

you could use that non-conductive fluid stuff that they use in computer water cooling systems, infact, its probably just a big version of the same thing...

but as above, price and the fact the light has to penetrate the liquid are some pretty big disadvantages when an air cooled system works just as good.
