I've been really stressed lately, and I'm on the edge here of breaking into a panic attack ><

Anyways, obvious answers (music, weed, etc.) aren't working, so anyone know some techniques to calm down and relax? I know some people are into meditation here, anyone know any simple ones?

Thanks in advance for everything.

damn you =/ i was gonna say "yeah, smoke a joint."

a hot bath always does me well... few shots of vodka will work too... (don't need to get drunk, just enough to loosen you up some)

You can allways try smoking a joint, and doing a spot of yoga, allways works for me

Go for a walk, like you said, meditate, get into that stuff.

Get out and run for awhile, if you're the sporty type.

If not, staring at the sea & smoking some stuff used to work for me.

However I strongly recommend #1 :)

Alright, thanks for all the replies. Yea, I did a few shots of straight up 151 yesterday during the day, not doing that again. I don't want to get in the habit of drinking on weekdays : /

It's a crappy day out today, I think I'm gonna go lift weights for a while. A bath doesn't sound too horrible either. I'm thinking of running tomorrow.

Go to Sharper Image, and sit in one of the massage chairs- I did that yesterday, and it did a WORLD of good.

There is no magic wand, Bob. Like it's been suggested above, it does, sometimes work to go for a walk and breathe in some fresh air.

Yea, we've got a mall close to where I live, it's got a Sharper Image... I'd go in there more but everything is so damned pricey O_O

what helps me a lot is going up to my local park and starting a fire in the fire pit and just sit there and intake life

yes, walking is great for me. if you have a dog, take em along for the ride...

going for a drive thru the country helps me too, smoking or not

ive always found it to be very relieving to release my emotions through art, i have a thing where i can almost take my mind and put it on a piece of paper. its hard to explain but it helps. or, if art isnt your thing express it through music. or really whatever you like to do..

i know of a simple yet effective meditation style called Vipassana. you can read all about it in this online .pdf. It might take you a few days to read the 100 page book (big print) but it is worth it if you want a stress relief tool to carry for your whole life.

if you want a quick fix, use drugs cause that is what they give you...
if you want a lasting and effective tool to carry with you always, try Vipassana...

good luck with whatever you decide...

This one works extremely well for me:

Put your lips together, with a very small opening in the front. Breath deeeeeeply, sucking the air through that opening like you're drinking a milkshake, completely filling your lungs, then let the air out the same way expelling it 100% (I don't mean kill yourself trying to empty your lungs though). Just keep it up till the anxiety has diminished, it should work pretty well.

Oh, and if you drink coffee I suggest you quit that, it really makes anxiety worse.

also, sex or masturbation are great for stress relief, physiologically and psychologically speaking...

and no, masturbation does not give you warts or make you go blind... and no it is not a sin.
