i was just wondering if anyone knew if purchased rolling tobacco was any less harmful to your lungs than cigarettes. a friend of mine recently bought a bag of samson dutch rolling tobacco and it just looks like straight leaves so i cant imagine its as bad as cigarettes, being treated with all kinds of chemicles and god knows what. someone please enlighten.

Do you roll ur cigs with a filter? Cuz if you go non filter, yes it is worse.

there are generally less additives, but the smoke is alot harsher.

i roll my own, and i'll say

1. oh, it'll give you cancer no doubt, not "safe". whether it's "more safe" than most cigs, probably; all RYO tobacco contains few or no additives, but i wouldn't think of it that way; as far as i know, smoking organic, perfect tobacco leaves will give you cancer; but i like to avoid all the additives anyway: summary: it's not safe, you will have a very highly increased likelihood of cancer

2. my suggestions for RYO: mclintock red and the stokebye versions; american spirit isn't great, pretty harsh, but it is completely additive free

i like hemp rolling papers (and we should all support hemp farmers, it's important for legilization)

ps: what i suggest is to buy filter tubes and a cig-machine. that's the little plastic thingy you go "swipe-swipe" and you've got a cig. fast, filtered, and those machines are only a couple bucks. i carry rolling papers when i'm on the go though, and all good cannabis lovers should know how to roll :)

marlboro is hardly the cig company to worry about... the cheap ass generic companies are th eoens to really worry about o.0

it would depend on the tobacco i guess... i'm sure there's some all natural rolling tobacco out there somewhere... but i'm guessing it goes through the same things tobacco goes through to be rolled in companies...

and if you roll without a filter, it's definately more harmful to roll your own then through the cig companies.

handrolling bakkie is perhaps marginally cleaner but I wudnt base your judgement on that. Smoking is bad so I only smoke socially and when im blazing, I do LOVE the act of rolling a fag though, drum ble all the way!

I can't smoke the cheap ones. After a half a pack, my throat and lungs start hurting way to bad. I'm thinking USA Gold and Doral's here.

I can't really say as I'm not too familair with that brand, but I used to hand roll (when I could) my own tobacco smokes. I bought Players Light, and they came in taylor made style too, and the contents in the tobacco were pretty damn close in "mg" that the taylor made ones, so yes, they would probably be just as bad, maybe worse.

Filters do contain fiberglass, but, without that filter, there is nothing to lessen the intake of all the other additives in the tobacco. A filter, filters some of those out, not completly, but reduces it, for a smoother smoke. No filter, is 100% intake of all the additives.

All you have to do is look at your buddys ingredient list on his pouch of baccy, and compare it to a similair brand of taylor mades.

If it is pipe tobacco though, some brands are additive free I believe, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I'm pretty sure the government is involved with any, and every tobacco distributer out there. I can't see someone making money from tobacco without the government wanting a nice slice.

All in all though, is lighter tobbacco better for you than heavy or moderate tobacco? I don't think so. Tobacco is tobacco, nicotine is nicotine, and carbon monoxide is carbon monoxide, and so on. It's all bad for you in the end, so there is no safer tobacco out there.

yea they do...cause my brother used to roll his own cigs

u just put the filter in there with the tobacco and roll it.......they come out real nice if u use a rolling machine

I eventually started doing that too, and it's probably 20% cheaper to roll your own.
