Metal worse than glass?

I have a friend who told me that smoking out of a metal piece was worse for ur lungs than out of a glass piece. Is this true because I love smoking out of my dugout.

when you heat metal, any metal it releases chemical gases and though you may not taste it it is there, its not enough to say kill you in the long run but it is bad for you in terms of what else is available

I own and have smoked out of both... I'd recomend glass more so, as metal does have its downsides such as the chemicals or what not.

Its mostly wives tales, as inhaling smoke is worse for you than anything else that would enter your lungs form a metal pipe.

glass pipes give fatter hits but they also break. if i didnt smoke so much weed id be able to keep a glass pipe (i usually drop em)

As long as your pipe is clean of any other chemicals such as oil, acetone, etc. you're fine to smoke all you want without worry :jointsmile:

see there's alot of myths going around cuz some snobby glass owners get put on the spot when they're asked why it's better.... after years of bullshitting, thousands of diffrent little myths can develope around one thing....

glass tastes better... but pipes, that are made out of metal, for smoking, aside from contaminants outside of the metal, is no dirtier then glass.

Go with glass. There's no health risks involved with smoking out of metal like fancy boots and slipknotpsycho said, but glass looks cooler, smokes better, and is a better conversation piece than a metal pipe in my opinion.

i work in a machine shop, have you ever seen metal smoking....??

well i have and that is chemical release, i grind all sorts of metal everyday on my machines and have seen some crazy material from time to time, any metal emits a chemical release when heated.

The most common metal used for pipes is aluminum or brass. If you can find a brass pipe, made for smoking not some random fitting, thats the best choice.

Aluminum is okay, but id rather brass.

Now COPPER is a NO NO!@!.

true, but alot of pipes are made out of anodized aluminum.... not sure what the anodization does exactly, but it's supposed to make it safe...

with that being said.... pop cans and aluminum foil are not anodized lol..
