okay, this is a 1st time scrog for me so any helpful suggestions about anything I'm doing wrong will be appreciated and I won't be offended. I'm not actually using a 600 yet but I'm gunna switch to it for flowering. At the moment, I'm usin a 400 MH. I'm growing 6 clones, 3 white russian and 3 Ice. I wasn't planning on doing a scrog grow in the first place but sadly during the 1st week of 12/12 on my previous grow I had to go away for 1 week. I had somebody who I thought I could trust look after them and found out I couldn't. He didn't seem to understand the concept of giving plants water and moving the light, so they were dry for 1 week. I came back to badly wilted plants with nice fried top nodes. so I reluctently cloned them and started again. This grow I'm definately not going away! Anyway...I'm using canna nutes, specialised potting soil, 2 inch chicken wire on a 3' x 3' screen, the screen is slightly lower in the middle than at the sides (sides-14" middle-12.5") and is held down, Mylar walls, I've got a duct fan blowing air out and cool air is sucked in from outside. I've topped all of them and LST'd one of them, I'm planning on switching to flowering when 75% of the screen is filled. Any suggestions of changes to this plan or help in any way would be really appreciated. here are some pictures...by the way the small plant being held up is going outdoors this year, it's ice.

Those are awesome bud, I was looking to score some outdoor "Camoflouged" chicken wire for my outdoor growing operation. Could U give me some guidance as to whether these exists or am i just wasting my time and should paint some chicken wire green/brown??

thanks guys. you can get plastic coated chicken wire thats like dark green, but you might aswell paint it green and brown, it wouldn't take long to paint

hi amstron.I love scrogs i done one with wr and this strain loves the scrog but i found that she fills the screen fast .I found filling the screen 50% in veg was sufficient to have a screen full of buds and with multi strain scrogs this is best as you have different strains growing at differant rates its very differant from a single strain scrog.i also found it was better to have the main colas along the outside edge and the rest heading into the middle of the scrog it helps with light coverage.I will be following this with great intrest as i love watching the screen getting filled.best of luck mate and nice set up.be safe the postman.

now that's one impressive looking scrog you grew there postman, what did that yield? what light did you use? thanks for the advice, I'll fill 50% and then switch to 12/12. Just to check I've got the idea right cos I really dont wanna fuk this up, once the colas pop through the screen I weave the larger ones in and out of each hole around the outside edge. I keep doing this with every node that comes through in a uniform pattern but train the smaller branches towards the centre, until 50% is filled then switch to 12/12 and continue training for about two weeks? just wanna check I haven't made any stupid mistakes in my plan.

o an just one more thing, seeing as the plants are branching a lot, do you think I should raise the plants closer to the screen

amstron i would leave the plants were they are as 6 plants in that size scrog will fill it in no time. When the colas pop through the screen let them grow the size of the square in the scree(2 inches in your case then tuck them through the next desired square until you have all the squres full which is aroung the second week 12/12 when the stretch slows down so at this point(2 weeks 12/12 _ the screen should be filled but all the colas at the same level so all the buds are growing through the screen at the same time then you will have a level screen of buds. Its so hands on and really enjoyable you will really enjoy this amstron.the wr scrog was 3 plants and the yeil was 7 oz dry but they were only veged 4 weeks.i have a other pic of my multi scrog grow i will look then out and show you what i mean about multi scrog grows .I had wr and aurora indica and nebula 3 of each in that scog but luckly i had the 3 strains in lines of 3 soo the bud canopy was even for each strain but the nebula and aurora indica buds were longer than the wr buds but still that was 9 plants and yeilded 22 oz.I will try dig out some pics. just keep doing what yer doing mate and it will work out fine and you will develope your own method of scrog that suits you but i say again its a very enjoyable method of growing.be safe the postman.

this scrog was 7 ft by 5ft with 9 plants maybe this will give you an idea of how fast they fill a screen. This 9 plant was under 1600 watt hps but the wr scrog was 600 hps and it was 4ft by 2.1/2 feet.will you be lollipopping them for this scrog.the postman.
ps sorry pics are so small they were stored online and dont know how to resize them lol

thanks, I realised the screen was a little higher than I thought so I put 1/2 an inch of books under them, probly pointless but I'm too fukin impatient lol. Now the measurements I gave are correct. Anyway, I got my first top coming through the screen yesterday, roughly how long do you think it might take to fill 50%? just an estimate as I have no clue whatsoever. I was planning on lollipopping but only when there is practically no light penetration below the canopy as my temps do get a little bit high sometimes (not too much) and these are very bushy plants so I want to reduce risks of mold, do you think it's a good idea or will it stunt growth? (by lollipopping you meant trimming lower leaves?)

14 days then i would go 12/12 but that size screen could be 50% full in the next 7 days. When trimming the leaves under the screen(lollipopping) I cut leaves i bit at a time then take the leave stem of with a stanley blade doing a differant plant each day until you are back to the first plant this gives the plants a break before being trimmed again.hope it all works out.the postman.

Looking nice amstron! il be watching this one! ur going to have to watch out for heat issues in your loft. What's ventilation set up? fresh air from out side being sucked in via the vent then removed back in to the loft to disperse? Plants looking nice and healthy 2! :)

postmandave- thats good to hear, not too long till flowering then. That sounds like a good plan with the lollipopping, I don't want to stunt them, but worse I don't want to stress them as a hermie could fuck up the whole thing.
Tomthehippie- thanks, I am a bit worried about heat. they're alright at the moment but as summer comes it's gunna get hot up there. I have an extraction fan (230m³hr, I don't know what that is in cfm) blowing hot air out and a tube sucking air in from outside. The hot air can disperse through vents in the roof all round the room. I also have a skylight which I can open to let in cool air to the attic. Last summer I didn't have a tube taking air in from outside so it got really hot up there and I got some hermies just before harvest (lucky). When I switch to 12/12 I'm gunna have the dark hours during the day and light at night. I'm hoping it doesn't get too hot. An attic is not a good place to grow but it's my only option, in winter it's too cold and summer too hot!
I'm going to update once a week so next pics are on the 21st

Yea good plan man! might be worth getting 1 of the many types of heat reflective material to insulate the roof from IR if the lights going to be on at night!

Attics.Im in the same situatoin amstron it is was brain damage sometimes lol i hated summer grows now the temps are mad so i ended up getting a ac unit to combat the problem and it worked, so attic problems can be over come.the postman.

I wish that was my only problem. I seem to have the shittest luck. I was walking to a friends house with a 1/2 ounce (stupid idea to have it on the street). The police decided to stop search me being the usual pricks London police are, and they found the weed. I arrested on suspicion of supplying and was taken to the police station and held in custody for 15 hours. Meanwhile the police got a warrant to search my house and ...guess what they found, a foot tall outdoor plant and this grow. They confiscated everything along with some brand new lowrider 2 seeds I just bought and worst of all was that I had scales and a whole load of baggies. I was interviewed and released on bail. I now have to go back to the station in a few weeks and probably go to court. You can imagine how I'm feeling right now. This is a message aswell, be careful carrying shit round as it can lead to a lot of problems. I think I'm going to take a break from growing for a while, especially till I find out whats happening to me. O man an I was gonna post pics today, aaaarrrgghh

SHIT! Sorry to hear that man that was shitty luck mate.Amstron keep us tuned on what goes down mate ,they will come back at you with charges of cultavatoin for profit and possesion with intent to supply, the baggies and scales can be explaned mate:jointsmile: .you grow your own shit for your own use you dont give no one any not even for nothing you have the scales and baggies because you ratoin urself to a quarter oz a week and you weigh out quarters and bag them up and make it last you as long as you can .You grow your own because you have a insomnia problem and cannabis is the only organic drug that works and you dont want to buy the poison on the streets laced with silicon beads or fund organised crime with doing so what else can you do, actually you are all violating my human rights by preventing me from making my life easier:rastasmoke: or sommit along those lines . anyway hope all goes well  be safe the postman.

thanks guys, in London if they think you look a bit suspicious, they make some shit up 'A robery occured nearby and the suspect is described as wearing clothes like yours' cunts. Thanks for the advice postman, that's what I told them about the limiting myself part, but I didn't use the insomnia bit (good idea though). I'm still gunna be looking round the forums and hopefully I can grow again at a later date.

Hey, amstrong. That's a real bummer that that happened, man. I was really looking forward to reading your log. There are not enough nice SCRoG growlogs out there. It is really a rewarding art form if you can succeed at it. So efficient if you are using the right strain.
Speaking of which, my question to all of you SCRoG growers...what is the best strain(s) to use for SCRoG? Some strains do not lend to topping and LST as much as others and yield suffers, yet there are some strains out there that do VERY well and can have an increased yeild when topped and done in SCRoG. Which strain lends to this better than others? Maybe PMD has some input? :D
Sorry to hijack your thread, amstrong, but since your grow is gone, we might as well keep the thread going with SCRoG discussion. Again, I'm sorry that happened to you man. SUCKS! :(
Be cool.

I read that an indica strain produces really high yields in scrog. Don't know any specific strains though

Nebula i found good for scrog .aurora indica is very good white widow another that grows well under sgrog i done white russian but 2 of the phenos didnt grow well and one grew real well.Power plant and big bang do well also .Blueberry hates the scrog and top 44(so ive heard)Never tried a full sativa in a scrog set up though would be intrested in hearing anyone who has .Scrog is a exellent method of growing and i would say every growers must try a scrog i find them great fun and exellent therapy , sitting with a spliff staring at a screen filled with nice solid buds (ahhh accomplishment) i say no more . be safe the postman
