This is just one expeirence and I do not suggest making decisions based on one experience. Anyway, here is cousin's experience this year:

1. Seed Boutique - order placed on 3/1. Sent money order the same day. Waited two weeks and order still says awaiting payment. Sent e-mail inquiry and zero response other than auto response. Waited another week or so and sent another inquiry. No response. Cuz would have had the same result if he had placed his order and sent his check to Santa at the north pole.

2. Dr Chronic - Sent order arounf 3/10. Sent money order the same day. Approx 6-7 days later got an e-mail saying "shipped today" 6-7 days later cuz recieved all. None missing, none damaged, no problem.

Peace.

Agreed. The good Doc Chronic has always done fine by me. No reason to deviate from present course.

Hey nitepharmer,

I gave up on SB. It was only a fairly small order, and it's not worth my time to try and chase them down. I probably won't order from them again though, just because I don't like the fact that they don't even read or respond to inquiries about pending orders. I am not saying they screwed me. Perhaps the check never got to them, I don't know. They could have taken 1 minute to reply and say "I am sorry but we did not get your money order, please complete a lost / stolen form to the issuing company" If they had taken that 1 minute, I would have re-placed the order and sent them another check. Instead, I just placed a second order with Doc Chronic. I am glad I split the original order between the two though. I am not crazy over the way the Doc packs them either, without going into detail here, I guess you know what I mean. From all I have heard many, many times, people have been happy and have recieved what they ordered. Its just a little different. At least he is upfront about it. If you look at his site he explains his packing and shipping methods so you know what to expect. I think he is on the level with it. We will see what the fall brings cause most of 07 is going to be from his stuff.

If you got that ice from female seeds, and you bust ass prepping your sites like I know you do, you are going to be one happy customer come fall. I learned from you too, sites of fifteen BIG plants are just too intense come harvest time, this year I'm cutting way back in the amount per site department. Five or under is a misdomeanor, in my state at least.

Hey Nitepharmer. No ICE for me. That was one of the ones that was on my original SB order. Unfortunately by the time I realized that order was not comming, the ICE, the Grapefruit and other first pics where sold out everywhere, so I missed out on them for this yr. I guess that' what kind of pissed me off is that I waited on those too long before realizing that nothing was going to happen. My mistake. That's OK though, I got some FS Moroc, Skunk Special and Sour NL X Nevelles Haze. I can't wait to see how the Sour NL X Haze burns. I have heard good things about the Moroc too. The SS was thrown in strickly for yield.

I've had nothing but good results multiple times from seed boutique, but I think they are just getting too big and too busy. Years ago the biggest seed company was Marc Emery out of Canada, they stupidly bragged about selling over two million seeds. Well their service got shitty and finally the US put enough heat on Canada to close them down. I wonder if a really BIG seed company invites problems on itself. How discreet can their mailing system be when some employee of seed boutique mails out one thousand packages at a time. Maybe like growers its best that they stay small and below the radar. Just speculation.

I have had 100% germ rates from the Doc with multiple strains. Not one single loser. But then I usually get 90-100% no matter what seed or where it came from. When I see people complaining about poor germ rates, I can't help but wonder if maybe some small part of the problem is that they just don't know what their doing? I mean getting seeds to germ and then become healthy seedlings takes some practice. When I first started doing it I did have problems.

I realize there is many good ways to do it, but for what its worth, the following method gives me 100% germ rates:
1. Fill a large cup (16-18 oz) 2/3 of the way with a mix of 2/3 favourite soil with either chem or organic fert and 1/3 perlite.
2. Fill the remaining 1/3 of the cup with a mix of 2/3 non fert seed start soil and 1/3 perlite up to 1 cm from the top.
3. Wet thouroughly and allow to drain.
4. Put seed on top in the middle.
5. Cover with about 1/2 cm of the seed start soil and perlite mix.
6. Wet thoroughly with a sprayer being carefull not to disturb the surface.
7. Keep at about 75 degrees F and spray the surface twice a day until they pop dirt.
8. This is the most important step - once they pop the ground DO NOT water again until that cup dries out completely and is light to pick up. Watering too soon at this point will kill them almost everytime. I don't know what it is but the seedling will get real thin near the soil surface and they will fall over dead. Depending on temps and humidity, it may take a up to a week or even two before they need to be watered again. Also, once they pop dirt immidiately get them right under FLs.

Why such a big cup - Prevents multiple transplants. They can grow in this thing either until they go outside or until they can go into big pots.

Like I said I know there is more than one good way to do this, but the above method gets me 100% germ almost every single time.

Obviously the above method is intended for soil grows indoors or out.

Ive ordered from both and have always gotten my orders within a couple weeks. Twice from Dr. C and twice from SB. Seed Boutique has an online orderform - if you place the order online AND print out the order form to send you money in with (which has the order number on it) you shouldn't have any problems with SB either.

BTW Dr. C, I liked the freebie TroubleMaker - just finished growing one and was surprised at how well I like it - guess I wasn't expecting much from free seeds but it's real tasty smoke, thanks.

I have ordered from both and both have come through for me. The person talking about germination above posted some good info, but sometimes it is out of the growers hands. If you get some bad beans, there isn't a whole lot you can do about it. I ordered some kc's from the doc (cali orange) not a single one of them sprouted, but the other pacs all sprouted fine and they were all germed at the same time. Another time I won an auction from the doc, and sent the money but apparently someone in customs opened the letter and took out the funds, but the doc did send me back my letter and explained to me that this is what it looked like when he recieved it. I won't use doc anymore after those two situations. I realize that sometimes things are out of a persons control and give the doc the benefit of the doubt, but I took my business to SB and I am currently a pretty happy camper.

This is what I have done. Print order form, send US cash, no problems. I think 3 orders from SB proper and 2 from their auction site seedbay. All 5 arrived complete within 3 weeks of order placement, a couple in just 10 days. I consider it a solid site.

I have been ordering from SB since before they were SB and gypsy called it seeds direct. I have always had good orders from them, and once they even gave me a 20% discount and 10 free seeds of breeder steve sk#1. I plan on ordering some seeds from dr.chronic soon just to test out the qualify of his genetic stock. Some times a seed co can have the best genetics, but if they dont store them properly, there mailing out duds. laterz..
