a new way to vaporize?

Hey, I have an idea for vaporizing and I'm just wondering if this would work...

I have a small glass bong (essentially it's a bubbler). If I put weed in the bottom of the bong (without water, of course) then cover the hole where the bowl normally goes and the carb, and held the bong over a candle/other heat source, would I be able to vaporize my weed and suck the wonderful thc out through the mouthpiece? In theory this seems like it would work perfectly, but I'm not sure...

That wouldn't work too well as the glass is more than likely too thick. You'd have to sit there for 5 minutes just heating the glass up. THC also vaporizes at 220degC, and using a lighter is not a good way to ensure that you are reaching that temp.. If anything, it goes much higher than that and you'll end up burning it anyways.

If you want a cheapo vape., just make one out of a lightbulb, but those can be hard to know if you're burning or not either.
