    My cat and OCD...

Well my cat was picking at his back and had a patch of fur gone the size of a freakin grapfruit... Vet said bring him in cause he probably has parasites... I did not bring him in cause he "Buddy" and his brother "Swirly" hang together and Swirly did not have the problem... I researched google and found that some cats have like OCD and clean themselves to the point of removing fur... I took a praise approach and I am happy to say Buddy's patch almost grown back in... What it seems is Buddy needed more affection and felt he needed to clean obsessively to get it... I pay more attention to him now and say stuff like "What a pretty cat" LOLz,,,it worked...

    My cat and OCD...

My cat used to have this problem where she would scratch the outside of her ears, and meow loud when she did it. It got so bad she started taking the fur off her ear. I took her to the vet multiple times, and they couldn't figure out what was wrong, so I said fuck it, bought a plastic cone for her head and strapped it on. I left it on for 2 weeks, only removing it so she could eat and clean herself, but once she was done, back on it went.

I took it off, and she stopped doing it. It was the weirdest thing.

My cat jumps on the counters on knocks things over to get my attention. Crazy wench.

Yeah,,,it seems strange they would hurt themselves for no apparent reason but,,,I am finding they do... A lot of articles I found just plain said try distracting the cat when they start scratching "basically what you did",,,

Sorry I did not take a pic but,,, I'll try now because it is not fully grown back yet... no my cat did not injure himself,,, no scratching,,, just picking at his hair and licking...

your friends cat may have parasites... I read that cats are very effective at picking and cleaning any visible parasite so you may think they don't have them...

    My cat and OCD...

Boredom could be another factor for the loss of fur. My friends cat started doing the same, turned out puss didnt have enough to do during the day so started to bite out its fur to pass the day....wtf crazy cats! Get ya kitty some more toys, encourage them to play more often-see if that helps.

    Peace

    Buddy
