I like to keep my cfls about 3" from the tops to maximize light penetration, I also had a fan blowing across the tops to help with keeping the tops from getting a little crispy, even though cfls run way cooler than hids, they still build up heat in the reflectors, which tends to reflect back on the plants.:thumbsup:
