a couple questions from the new generation of smoking...

I've seen a video of Howard Marks smoking with some rastafari's in Jamaica and when they would hit it, literally as they were inhaling it they would exhale through their nose. It ends up looking really cool, I guess they knew that the smoke didn't need to be held in for long periods of time.

It also pisses me off when people say others are wasting smoke when exhaling after 3-5 seconds. They really don't know what they are talking about but think they do which makes it even worse.

lol, ok mate, here's the deal. Smoking weed in a pipe is not like smoking tobacco in a pipe.

You chop the bud up quite finely first. Then fill the bowl. Then toke on it an hold the lighter on it until it's smoking nicely. don't burn it too much, because the smoke will come through too hot. Just burn it lightly as you toke.

make sure you take the smoke into your lungs properly too.

if you don't inhale, you don't get high

As a matter of fact, I urge you to not even hold the flame over the bowl - hold it to the side of the bowl, and let your inhalation bend the flame to ignite just a little "pie slice" of the weed. This will enable you to have nice green hits over and over again (particularly courteous if you're passing it around). When I smoke, I pull in lightly so the flame doesn't even actually touch the weed; the flame bends close, and then the heat from it ignites just a small bit. I hold it there for a second until I know I'm getting smoke.

You can always tell a n00b because he'll scorch and blacken the whole top of the bowl when lighting up. This drives me, and anyone who really respects cannabis, utterly fucking nuts.

aha! A real pro! It's so much easier to control your hits toking like that. You can get really good at doing that, and be able to share exact half bowls with people by burning it in half carefully. Good advice also mate :thumbsup:
