i never accomplished anything in terms of skating until i actually just went for it without thinking about how much it would hurt if i macked it hard. you gotta let that feeling go and just think about how rad it is when you land the trick.

just picture yourself doing it in your minds eye and do it! it sounds totally cognitive and stupid but trust me, if you can picture it and you go for it, it will happen sooner or later.

I used to skate, prolly gonna start again because of the weather and my board is just laying there..
I still can't do anything but ollie and barely a kickflip without landing it. It takes alot of practice man, i've been trying to learn an ollie for like a year or so, especially when you dont have a friend that is really good at skating and can teach you how to do all the stuff.
my suggestion is get to know skaters friends

thanks for all the encouragement guys, its really helping, i think what i need to do is go face plant a few times to get used to the fact that to get better st skating im going to fall.

and skrappie, what im doing is having the ball of my back foot on the tail, and my front foot in the middle of my board. i might have my front foot too far off the board, hanging 10 if you get what i mean, and the board naturally spins. ill have to work on that

i dont really get your second question tho, i kinda do both i guess

its hard to know what i do when im doing it moving, cuz i cant really take too long or ill come to a stop.

i ride goofy too... seems i do everything backwards, i play inverted on xbox too

That must mean you skate Goofy, as do I, and I tore 3 ligaments and badly sprained my right ankle (so close to breaking it) by olling a 6-set and landing with my foot sideways, and over the board!.... I remember some old chinese man was laughing at me... F him!

Its all about the ollie... dont even bother to teach yourself tricks until you got the height, speed, and balance down. then work on the flips and spins
Manuals and reverts help alot for balane.... the ollie is the first baby step.

yeah i dunno why but thats the only way i can skate.

and i can only do 360 flips if im ridin fakie.

but i can ollie impossible and sometimes they come out look like tre flips.

update:

im getting more ballsy, i can kinda ollie while moving now... but landings are always sketchy i jsut gotta work on that, hopefully going to the skate park tomorrow so ill try there.

it looks like i was getting air but its real dark out so i couldnt really tell. thanks for all the encouragement guys its been great, we should make a skating thread or something haha

if you felt yourself gettin up in the air then im sure you did, it seems you know the method but jsut incase, you just slap the tail down almost like quickly and at the same time slide the front foot towards the nose... jst keep at it and you will get it, then youll find other tricks come really easy...

yeah man it is now the perfect weather to skate in, actually i skated today and it felt great since i haven't in a week or so. BUt for you situation man, yeah dont give up and it seem like to me that your not staying over the board enough, when you land..dont get scared but land w/ both feet on that board if its sideways or not
