Tehran slams ??anti-Iranian? 300 Movie
What propaganda? If anyone is guilty of creating anti-Iran sentiment here in the U.S., at least in terms of this movie, it's the Iranians. Shit, I'd be willing to bet that 3/4 of American's don't even know Persians are from Iran. Most people would just go to the movie and not think twice about who the Persians were or where they came from. Now, however, people are simply pissed that the Iranians would have the balls to start trying to tell us what movies can and can't be made.

State-run television has run several commentaries the past two days calling the film insulting and has brought on Iranian film directors to point out its historical inaccuracies. ``The Rating: 5

It's just a movie, based off a graphic novel, based off a historic event that is so far in the past it bears no resemblance to our modern world in the first place.
it's a bad ass movie, and a visual feast. It would be a shame people missed out on it because they thought it was anti-anything. People are so stupid.

until someone pulls iran forward into the 18th century, the events in the movie will seem like modern day events to them.

Truer words were never spoken, Del-Norm. That poor society has regressed easily by three centuries in its theocratic state since 1979. And all it knows of the world and of other cultures are the carefully religiously controlled messages of its own Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah Khamenei, and the propoganda of its assembly and president Ahmadinejad.
Our president and his war are responsible for a whole lot more of the trouble in that part of the world than many want to admit, but Iran's fundamentalist Shi'a craziness is largely responsible for the response we're now seeing, from Iran's nuclear ambitions to the insurgency in Iraq.
If someone made a movie with clothespins representing a traditionally Middle Eastern civilization and matchsticks representing a traditionall Western one, the Iranians and others like them would see it as anti-Islamic. In their way of thinking, there's only one true path--fundamentalist Islam--and they believe the whole Western world is against them. We've helped give them that impression, of course. And the scariest thing of all is that our own president obviously has the same one-true-path way of thinking, too, at least about the war itself and inflicting democracy on theocracy, which isn't ever going to happen. Neither side right now has any sense, to be honest. And crazy as their reaction to a silly movie is, our aggression over there is just as nuts.\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"

That's a bullshit reaction. I'm largely of English descent, so should I go and bitch about Braveheart? Rhetorical question. Having said that, I do think Iran has every reason to resent America based on the way they treat them, but not over this. In fact, I don't think this is about a film at all, but the film is being used as an excuse to be angry at the U.S., as if they need another one.
There are many people out there who have seemingly thought-out arguments that cannabis is harmful, and no amount of logic I can use can cure their ignorance. So...I simply spark a bowl.

Cool movie, but I missed any political point. Perhaps because we were on 4ho-mipt at the time. 25mgs was fucking intense.

Thats funny because in a school right down the road from me they just held a big rally saying that WW2 shouldnt be taught the way it is now because its unfair to Germans and the Japanese. I thought it was a joke but no. How screwed up is that? Man if you dont know your history your doomed to repeat it. I know that since im majoring in History for my teaching career I would NEVER, repeat NEVER bow down to someone like that. Im sick and tired of being so goddamn politically correct! GRRRRR!!!

I'm not out banging the war gong like Bong or P4B but I know bad news when I see it. I mean, if it walks like a duck, flies like a duck, and quacks like a duck; chances are it is a duck. George Bush wanted to finish what Daddy started but Ahmadinejad wants to finish what Hitler started. That type of guy doesn't deserve any kind of empathy or compassion.
As for Jews and Christians protesting movies, well...they can go fuck themselves too. But it's a little different when some wacko fringe religions protest a movie then when a nation does.
