    Survival Tips

I was watching this documentry last night which amazed me. These guys were in Africa were watching this pride of Lions. About 20 minutes into filming they notice one of the larger males has started to stalk one of the camera men. Now let me paint the picture. This guy is a native african, can't be much taller than 5ft and looks like the wind could blow him over, dressed in nothing but a pair of raggy shorts. Yet he doesnt flinch or turn and run, he does the complete opposite.
He waits until the Lion is about 10 metres away from him. I was on the edge of my seat, watching this HUGE lion stalk the poor camera man like a gazelle. When all of a sudden the camera man charges at the lion screaming and shouting like a f*cking mad man!! I couldn't believe it, the lion actually turned his tail ran away scared!!! It was so funny to see, this little african guy in his lil shorts chasing this full grown lion, shouting n screaming. Just goes to show it's all about front even in the animal kingdom. Just thought I'd share with ya guys incase you're confronted by a Lion on your travels......ya never know.....

    Peace

Ey up Buddy, nice to see you actively posting and contributing to the boards again, an old face with fresh insight. How is it down Landarn?

I don't mind watching documentaries, and seeing the behaviour of a 'top dog' against a 'meek man'. It reminded me about the series with that bloke who looked after bear cubs, and chased an adult bear away, that was after one of the cubs.

Jesus! That is a crazy story.

If I tried that I'd probably get 3 steps in before tripping and shitting my pants. At least they'd have it on film

Man I love that guy Ray Mears, he can just about do anything! My little bro had a Ray Mears Survival book bought for him when he was younger. I can remember going into the back garden and there being various types of traps, home made weapons, tool and piles of different kindling. He even caught a rabbit or two! Mum wasn't best pleased, he told her the foxes must've got them.

That is awesome! I want everyone else to share survival tips here, too. And what you consider "essential wilderness gear" when you go backpacking.
