higher4hockey Reviewed by higher4hockey on . redundant I have a simple question. Do you know what redundant means? Do not look it up, simply answer the poll. I will explain my reason for posting this after I have gotten a decent idea of wheather the definition is common knowledge or not. Rating: 5

Alright, I'm taking a break from filling out all this crap.

The reason I asked this question is because to day in my Advanced Grammer class we had to give a short presenation on our research papers. The paper had to be on a literary tool or word that has caused a lot of debate or has a lot of usage problems.

    For example.

I did mine on double negatives. Others did it on when to use that or which, then or than, ain't, etc...

Well, one girl in my class chose the word redundant. She started her presentation with, "I had absolutely no clue what redundant was before I started doint my research..." This is a college course, with a prerequisite of English 101... Everyone in this class is at least 19, maybe one or two are 18, most are in their 20's.

Here is the kicker... She is an education major... I just wanted to make sure my suspision was correct and that most people are aware of what that word means. It is used a lot, so I don't understand how someone hoping to be a teacher can't pick up a dictionary when she keeps hearing a word and doesn't know what it means.

    *end rant*

Lol, sorry I forgot to check that email account. I have several for different things, that one is for this site... I'm not in the habit of checking it. Thanks a bunch. I skimmed through the files a second ago and it looks like there is a plethora of info there. How long did it take you to compile all that? I don't have much to do tomorrow and will read through some of it tomorrow, thanks again Dutch.

Nothing beats this one. A friend of mine (honest person) was telling me how one time he handed the cashier a $100. His total came to something like 10 bucks. She than holds onto the $100 starts counting out the change and than gives the $100 back to him. At this point he is up 80-90 bucks. Feeling it would be wrong to leave, he tells her about her mistake and she gets really confused. He said he finally just walked out with the change she gave him. According to him the girl behind the counter couldn't understand her mistake.

It's hard to say how long it took me to compile it...it was for a research paper i wrote in my english class, so I did put a lot of effort into it. I probably spent at least a week surfing the net for studies...it's harder than it sounds because I only wanted to use studies that did their research well, and were legit. Obviously, the topic was very interesting to me so altho reading studies is hard work, it's fun and very worthwhile!!! My teacher loved it by the way, I got an A. He said my argument was very strong
