Some pics of my 3 week old ice and bubbleicious
Hey guys, can you give me your opinion on these?
We added nutes for the first time yesterday, the plants were at 3 weeks old but some leaves were slightly browning and some dying with crispy leaves.
They seem to have perked up a bit since yesterday since we added nutes and moved the fan to eliminate the possibility of wind burn. Do they look good otherwise?

Cheers mate, thanks for taking a look.
We went in today to take pics before the cfl light turned on and noticed lots of droplets (of water?) hanging off each leaf. Is this just dew or is the room too humid?
Are you sure I should cut the decaying leaves off? I read somewhere on this forum that you are supposed to leave them on as it helps the plant so now i'm confused.
We are first timers from S. Wales. What about your self mate?

leave that fan in there. I think water is coming out of the leaves, because mine were doing the same thing. I think the plant is releasing extra water, but without a fan in there to circulate air the water isn't evaporating. Just a guess.
also, what nutes are you using? and in what concentration? What is your pH? Those first pics did look a bit sickly, make sure your pH is between 5.5-5.8

Are you consistantly at 90 degrees or do the temps differ when your lights are off? 90 is pretty warm I think.

Hey guys,
The fan is still in the room, just on a lower setting now.
The nutes we added were aqua vega a + b and we added them at half strength as it was the first time the plants have seen nutes in 3 weeks.
The temp is now a touch lower than 90 as I didnt realise you are supposed to take the temp in the shade so I have moved my thermometer into the shadow of the nft tank. The temp does lower when lights are off but it's still fairly warm in there.
The PH has always been perfect thanks to the lovely water we get here from the mountains of the brecon beacons.
All in all we are seeing constant improvement since we added the nutes. My main concern right now is how far the light should be from the plant tops as I want to keep the plants fairly stumpy. We are using a 250w vegging cfl, any suggestions?
Also, does anyone have any opinion on whether or not to remove decaying leaves?

take off the dead leaves
i'd say your light needs to be +/- 12 inches.

A good way to see if the lights are too close is to put your hand on top of the plant for 20 seconds or so. If your hand feels uncomfortable - the light is too close. Easy. You can usually get cfl's very close to the plants (closer than HPS or MH) if you have a decent fan in there. Dont worry too much about the plants getting windburn - I have a 12 inch fan that sits about 3 feet away from the plants and usually its on high speed. The plants next to the fan will adjust by building a strong stem. If you want to keep the plants short just make sure to flower them when they are about 8 inches tall. You can also try LST (training) or topping but these techniques will make the plant wider - I dont know how much horizontal space you are working with. It is easier on the first grow to just flower when they are short and dont worry about training.
The goal is to get the lights as close as possible with the temps as close to 70 as possible and flower early. Peace. My grow
