Feedback on seeds, male or female

    Hello,

It is close to impossible to figure out a plants sex at this age, or close to any point while they are in veg. You have to wait until you switch the light cycles and start to flower the plants. Then they will show their sex.

    Happy Holidays.

    Peace

    Howdy Student,

I would just like to point out-that one can force a plant to flower,it needs to be on it's third or fourth set of leaves,if you want to sex them faster that way,you can..however,the drawbacks are stress, increased veg time, etc. After being forced to show their sex,the plants can be reverted back to veg. Usually, only experienced growers do it that way, because they're either commercial growers or breeders-that either need to know,or have the patience to add the increase in time to veg. Then there are those experienced growers who sex their plants as soon as possible, because they don't want to waste a single iota of their expensive ferts, time, space, energy or electrical costs on male plants. Of course, growing from female clones, eliminates the problem of determining sex.

My goal,is to grow a good mother plant or two,and grow the clones out on a 6 week veg-to-flower cycle,so I can have somewhat of a perpetual harvest..yay ! lol However,I first need to grow out some good parents for a seed crop..then go from there.

    Have a good one...Torog

    Howdy weeed,

Well..the plant in the pic, looks like it's indica dominant, because of the wide leaves. Is it outside ? If it's indoors, you need to have an oscillating fan on it,to strengthen the main stem. What kind of potting soil are you using ? It looks like it's the kind with pine wood chips..if so,the ph could be low, which could cause nutrient up-take problems in the future. You should transplant into a 5 gallon, plastic pot(clean with anti-bacterial soap or bleach solution, before use),and use some good potting soil with no pine or cedar in it,along with some perlite,25-30 % mix ratio, that way, you'll be giving your plant the best home ya can...

The potting soil mixture,is very important, and I usually git a big plastic trash can, around 40 gal. size or so,and mix my good quality potting soil mix, perlite, vermiculite, worm castings or batguano, some rock phosphorous etc. A dust mask is a good thing to wear, along with some long plastic gloves, especially when mixing in some form of powdered manure.

By the time the plant is on it's third or fourth set of leaves, more likely around the fifth or sixth set,you may notice male and female characteristics, but there won't be any sex organs yet. Females tend to be smaller and have shorter length between leaf sets, known as internode length, they just generally look daintier, but a healthy, vigorous female can fool ya into looking like a male..so what it boils down to is,is that you can't rely on your educated 'guess'.

    Have a good one...Torog
