Quick Help! 3 wks into flower and leaf problems!!

Hey guys, i have two plants both 3 weeks into flower, i water them when they need it e.g. when u stick your finger in the pots no soil sticks to it.. I fert with every watering half the recommended dose of orchid bloom (a blooming fert) and i have noticed one of the plants all of its fan leaves (the first set of big leaves not the leaves where the buds are forming) are dying off if not already all dead.. it started off with little tiny brown/bronze/yellowish spots appearing by the veins in the leaf then the leaf tip would curl upwards and die goinng all crispy.. this started when i put the one plant into flower 3 wks ago and now 3 wks later has killed all of its big fan leavs, and has now started on my other plant.. the other plant now has a few dead fan leaves with the same problem.. I have done some searching and can't find out whats wrong.. its really sad, can someone please offer me some adivce as the buds are looking gorgeous i just dont want them to die! thanks for any help.

    Peace, Happy Growing!

    Hello,

It sounds like you may be overfertilizing your plants. I would suggest giving the soil a heavy flushing of clean pHed water. Then in a week start your feeding again, I would fert. no more than every 2-3 waterings, with healthy clean waterings in between.

    Happy Holidays

    Peace

I really don't think its over ferting.. it doesn't look like fert burn to me.. it looks like some kinda deficiency.. and i buitl it up i used 1/4 recommended dose in first go.. 2nd go i used 1/2 recommended dose then stuck at 1/2 for a while... in all of the 3 weeks i probably watered it 3 - 4 times with ferts in of weak strengths.. so i dunno.. any other ideas??

It's just the plant sucking all of the nutes from the fan leaves. During flowering this will happen, when you dry all the fan leaves are usualy gone. DOnt lose any sleep over it.

Hey i hope you read this...... i can't remember ..but i am pretty sure that orchid bloom is for ACIDIC plants and that is not your plants friend. this might also explain nutrient defficiancy and so on and so forth including that you might have also created an acidic soil. Also if you use too much nut. which honestly i would cut back at least to half the of the Frequency that you use it now, then salt from the fert will build up and cause nut. blockage. In fact the more i think about it.. i am pretty sure that stuff is acidic or else i would have bought it because i have looked through all of those products several times. Get something with a more balanced ph and more MICRO nut's for your flowering and you should be cool.....it will take about a week or so to recover if your soil needs flushed because of salt buildup from too much nutes And then there is the fact as mentioned before that some leaves will always die due to this or that or even a shadow in your garden lol that you don't not5ice for a couple days . GOOD LUCK !!
and PS that overgrow.com sick plant page RULES......it helped me out before too and now i am in good good shape. word!!
