    The Edwards diary

Daily Kos.com This is an excerpt from a speech By John Edwards: Tonightâ??tonightâ??somewhere in America a 10-year-old little girl will go to bed hungry, hoping and praying that tomorrow will not be as cold as today because she doesn't have the coat to keep her warm; hoping and praying that she doesn't get sick as she did last year, because it means 24 hours waiting in an emergency room to try to get medical care; hoping that her father, who lost his job when the factory closed and has not been able to find steady work, will actually get a job that allows him to provide for his family. She's one of 35 million Americans who live in poverty every single day, unnoticed, unheard. Well, tonight we see her, we hear her, we embrace her, she is part of our family and we will lift her up.

Now come on right wingers, say something about how all he wants to do is raise your frickin taxes, or put him down for being weak, because he has compassion. I am astounded by your silence on this thread. I figured I'd get trampled with right wing bullshit! Or are you just ignoring me because I'm not in your little clique? Well ignore away, I'll be keeping you updated with left leaning rhetoric daily, or as I see it, Reality! I'd rather have a dialog, but monologues work also.

    Universal healthcare

On Feb. 5, 2007, Edwards unveiled his plan for universal health care, which would require higher taxes and cost up to $120 billion per year. Edwards said the plan would be paid for by eliminating Republican-passed tax cuts for people earning more than $200,000 per year. "The bottom line is we're asking everybody to share in the responsibility of making health care work in this country. Employers, those who are in the medical insurance business, employees, the American people â?? everyone will have to contribute in order to make this work".[53]

    Legal Career

Edwards was criticized for paying himself mostly through subchapter S corporate dividends, rather than a salary, to take advantage of a tax-law loophole that allowed him to avoid paying $591,000 in Medicare taxes; Edwards claimed that he chose the subchapter S structure to protect his assets from liability.[3]

A good parent will work at ANYTHING, including several jobs, to keep their kids healthy, warm and safe. It's not my responsibility if the parents are unwilling to do this, and it's the job of family courts to remove the child from a bad environment if that is the case.

Lazy idiots should not have kids in the first place.

There - I've said it. Are you happy now?

Well they do and they aren't getting any smarter. Think about this: if the median IQ is 100, that means half the people are below that, and if you go South of the Mason Dixon line, It's probably 75-85%. Thats a lot of kids to put in CPS, Are you up for the increases in your taxes that would entail? Lazy Idiots are a fact of life. Unless you are willing to affect the "ultimate solution" IE. Nazi extermination camps, they are here to stay, go ahead, let out your Nazi rants, lets just kill them all so the rest of us can live an intelligent life, after all, they are less than human, right!

Come on, He's a lawyer. Thats what lawyers do, steal for a living. But now he has all he needs. Do you think Presidents pay excites him. He is a successful lawyer that made millions ripping off the insurance companies for hapless victims and now wants to eliminate them completely. On that one issue alone he gets my vote. Insurance companies are the biggest scam in this country, and they own most of the rest of the politicians. Edwards has fought them long and hard and I admire that. The comeback I'll no doubt get from you guys is he costs everyone else more for medical. Thats why we need single payer medical. Eliminate the corrupt corporations, HMOs and Medical INS. Co.s.

Once you pull out the "Nazi" card, you've lost your case.

I have nothing against giving a parent a break if they really have a problem beyond their control - but this sense of entitlement that parents AND their offspring have these days is very trying on the patience of their tax-paying non-parent benefactors like me. I'm paying for their kids' schools, lunch programs, health care, tax breaks, etc., and I don't own a car or a house or any of the things that many of these parents have. It's enough - and if another Clinton, or a similar type like Edwards gets in the White House, there will be another change after their term is up - with more cutbacks than now. It goes in cycles, thankfully.

Lazy idiots should not have children, unless they have the money - or private charities willing to supplement their hobby. I'd like our taxes to pay people to get sterilized - give them a thousand bucks and a new color TV. Then maybe we'd see something positive happen.

The stupider people are, the more kids they have. Edwards didn't mention, in his homily, how many brothers and sisters the fictional 10 year-old-girl had.

P.S. I'm East Coast born and raised, going many generations back, and even I resent your comment about the supposed lower I.Q in the South. The stupider people are, the more kids they have.

LOL.....allow me to finish his speach:

Now I could limit lawsuit liabilities that hurt the industy that put her daddy out of work but I got some friends that would be VERY unhappy about that. We wouldn't want to see any homeless lawyers now would we? hehehe

The only thing left is for us to see her, hear her, embrace her, and raise our taxes so we can give the help she rightfully needs. Now once again I don't mean EVERYONE.....you see, me and my lawyer friends that help to put factories out of business due to lawsuits and high insurance rates have tax loopholes. Now don't think your alone on this....we think of ya all the time when we buy our new cars, mansions, and designer underware. We like to give with our heart.

    Have a good one!:s4:

Don't forget about the left-leaning unions that out-priced the salaries and benefits of so many factories and other shops, that layoffs, and even outsourcing, become a necessity. I know of this very well, from personal experience.
